Sturdy Corkscrew which should last for decades!
I bought this as a gift and wanted to spend a little extra to have something which is easy to use, has as little plastic in it as possible and was of high quality. This device didn’t disappoint in any of these areas. The design is ingenious and simple to use after a little practice (oh dear, *needing* to open another bottle!?) and I have to say it’s actually quite satisfying to use. It’s worth the money and feels like a high quality piece of hardware.

Best, in the experience of this user, except for an earlier purchase of the same model.
One purchased some years ago was the easiest to use out of many encountered, but eventually it failed through a weakness of the top 'seal' to the thread - the 'handle' span off. The replacement is identical except that it is in unpolished, rather than polished, metal which means it needs a little more wrist power to turn.

Ergonomic beauty
Proper ergonomic design is necessary to prevent repetitive strain injuries, which can develop over time and can lead to long-term disability.I bought this as a gift for my retired parents who have joined a wine tasting club. The corkscrew is beautiful in form and engineering design. The corkscrew works by trning in the same direction to grip the cork, the top cam is tipped once fully into the cork to slowly remove the cork without sudden movement. Not just for those without strength to pull a cork but for all that can appreciate good engineering principles.

The last corkscrew you’ll ever need
I’ve never failed to get a cork out cleanly with this corkscrew, which is a fantastically simple but effective example of engineering the design! My parents have had one of these for about 25 years, still going strong... I spent £10 on one from a supermarket, should have just bought one of these in the first place!

Too Expensive for the Quality
This is a solid piece and well made overall. But for the price it should have a better finish, there are scapes and some poor finishes on the inside edge and a drill hole marking that looks very rough. If this was half the price I would say its a 4 star, but I’d still be disappointed with the finishing.

Useless
This is weighty but not robust. The thick corkscrew almost destroyed the cork and the removal was very difficult. On its way back to Germany, very disappointing.

The best corkscrew ever!
i bought one of these 20 years ago. It's one of those products that you know will last literally a lifetime. I bought this as a gift for someone and once you get get the knack you can remove a cork in no time at all. It never fails to cleanly remove the cork - no crumbling. This is German engineering at it's best and yes it's not cheap, but it functions perfectly and will never need to be replaced.
