I bought this because my battery-powered thermometer turned out to be dead the last time I tried to use it. Either the battery died on its own or a failed to turn it off before putting it away the time before. Since it uses a hearing-aid battery that took three weeks to appear in the local store last time a new battery was needed, I decided to go retro.I have not actually used this so cannot speak to how accurate it is. Frankly, consistency is more important to me anyway. But I can say this:1. I have no reason to believe this is not a new unit, properly assembled and well-packed.2. I did have problems shaking the temp down. I put it in the refrigerator (/not/ the freezer!) for a while. It dropped some but, more usefully, it then responded to being shaken by actually moving the mercury down the tube. Whether this is only needed the first time or will always be needed is unknown.So I am happy with my purchase.

I purchased 3 of these for my family and they are complete garbage. Each is accurate and in its reading with the other 2 unfortunately the three thermometers read 102.2 every single time yet when tested against a thermometer gun or other oral thermometer those read at 98.6. Don't buy this product

I used this thermometer for my baby and it worked very well. It’s easy to read and feels safe to use. The results are quick and seem accurate. A great basic tool for any parent.

My niece love these, she even bought more for her classmates. Value for money, easy to read, perfect.

Does not work properly, temperatures are always at least 100 F. My bad I didn’t see it can’t be returned. Save yourself a trouble, don’t buy this one unless you want to use it to stay home from school or work. Then you can take your chance.

Let’s be honest. Everyone should have a glass thermometer. They’re more accurate and reliable. Great price. Shipped securely. Go get this.

One thermometer was broken

gives the same reading for everyone -- I highly doubt that everyone in my family has the exact same temp every day, every time of day. We have tested this over and over and it only gives one temp reading.
