Sings the George & Ira Gershwin Songbook

This is Ella singing for a Top 40 station, not a jazz audience. Ella's voice is great, the Riddle orchestra is OK and, of course, the Gershwin material is excellent. But if you want to hear Ella doing her thing with the melody and harmony, then get Ken Burn's CD (Verve) of her work, or any of the other albums that feature her in a freer setting. 5 stars for doing well what the creators intended to do with this work, 3 stars for the fact that I enjoyed it less than others where she could spread her wings; averaged to 4 stars.

Greatest female singer with Nelson Riddles Orchestra and George and Ira. Perfect combo. This is my very best album. I strongly recommend it.
