Great Beginner Drone!
Lots to like on this compact drone! The photo and video quality is awesome. I’m very impressed with how well it captures pics. One short press for a photo, or one long press for a video; it’s very easy to use! All the pics and vids go directly to your phone, as well as being stored on the app and in the mini SD card. The drone only weighs 216 grams - well under the FAA registration requirement, so NO FAA registration is necessary. The Controller is ergonomically designed with comfortable folding handles. The app connects easily, and works very well, as does the app’s Wi-Fi - I had no problems at all connecting each time I flew. I also like that the drone comes with two batteries of 22 minutes of flying time each. The drone flys easily, although in moderate winds, it swayed a bit since it is so light. The drone is very fun to fly, and is packed with features: Follow Me, Orbit Flight, Multi-Point Flight, and much more. I like the “Gesture Photo and Video” feature where pics and vids occur by you holding up two fingers for pics, and five fingers for vids. Very cool. The camera adjustment wheel works well, but has an annoying beep that I am getting used to. In all, I love this drone and recommend it highly!

Cheaply made
This was good at 1st, but had gimbal problems after 2 weeks, just kept turning never correcting itself. I tried a 2nd one and 3 weeks after bought it the on and off button went into the drone and you could not even start anymore again. I can't find one though with these features under $400 so I will try it one more time. I just want to use it on an up coming vacation of a lifetime (not use professionally) and want to make sure it will at least last the 2 weeks on the trip. Hopefully the 3rd time is the charm or it's 3 strikes your out or I will have to dish out 3x as more cash for the same features.

Ease of use
Review of WF 40The WF40 is a sub 249gram drone (actually 212g) that comes with what you expect from a folding beginner drone. The box comes with a very nice carrying case which contains the drone with two batteries, controller, user manual, small bag which includes extra props, usb cable, and screwdriver. In this review, the user needs to look at the pros as well as the cons when deciding if this drone will fulfill your needsProsThere is a benefit of the drone with battery weighing under 212 grams is that it’s not required to meet FAA Remote ID and registration guidelines. Even if you add a strobe light (require for night flying) you would still be underweight so once again the Remote Id and registration would not be required. The user will need to charge both batteries and the controller before the first flight. Included in the case is one micro usb cable to charge both batteries and the controller. The drone comes with two batteries, (7.4V 1500 mah) each takes about 2 hours to charge. A fully charge battery last between 10-15 minutes even though the manufacture claims 22 minutes per battery. The correct way to ascertain battery life is to start the timer as soon as all components (Drone, app, and controller) are on. Also if you have a headwind that will also reduce battery life.It has a micro SD card slot for recording your pictures and videos. With the use of a SD card the camera is capable of capturing stunning 4 k photos and 2 k videos. The resolution will be greater storing to an SD card vs your cell phone. You can use anywhere from 128 GB to 256 GB card in the drone. The App has many features found on much higher cost drones. These would include return to home (RTH), point of interest, and waypoints.Setting the drone to fly is pretty simple and straightforward in drones of this class. After setup hit the automatic takeoff button and you’re flying. The drone is backed by the award winning customer service from Holy Stone. I have been dealing with Holy Stone for several years and have never had a bad experience.Cons:The user manual is so small you be tempted to use a magnifying glass to read it.Extra cables would make charging much easier. The power switch for the drone is located on the underside of the body. It is small and very easy to miss.Flight:After performing the calibrations and unlocking he motors she was ready to fly. Hitting the auto takeoff button the drone rose to an altitude of about three meters and hovered there waiting the next command. Even in a slight breeze, thanks to the GPS the drone never moved until told to do so. With the exception of the few cons previously listed I found the WF 40 to be a good drone and worth the price.

Good budget drone
It is a good drone for the price. It has an app that works although it is limited. The control wheel for the camera angle responds very slow has an a lying beep each time you move it and the camera takes a few seconds to move. Besides it seems to be setup opposite in direction as any other droneIf you try to connect near your home and you have a strong home WiFi signal the phone will attempt to disconnect from the drones WiFi and go back to your house WiFi. That makes connecting to the drone frustrating. But when it connects the app works ok although it has very limited capabilities. But it works which is a lot more that I can say from other WiFi connected drones. The good thing is that it does have GPS but it is sensitive to light wind. Not a level 5 wind drone. The image posted was with covered skies so to be fair the lighting was pretty bad although far above the horizon you can see blue it was pretty late in the afternoon just before sunset but in general the image and video are decent. Not 4K HDR but for a sub $100 drone it is not bad. Flying experience is pretty decent though. I would recommend for anyone learning to fly.But one downside can’t get any osaré batteries or anywhere to go for software updates or anything of that kind. The RTH altitude should have a way to be customized to avoid the drone crashing with a teee or building.
