After buying several 10 dollar obd scanners I paid a little bit more and it was well worth it. Works great. I use obd pro app with it. Does what I want it to do

Works Very Good!
It works as intended. I just wish it did more, like programming keys and TPM sensors.

A Pocket-Sized Mechanic for the Modern Driver
I've always been a bit intimidated by the check engine light. The dread of a costly, unknown repair is something every car owner can relate to. That’s why I decided to take control and get the Vgate iCar Pro 2S Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner. This little device has completely changed how I approach car maintenance, transforming my smartphone into a powerful diagnostic tool. The setup was a breeze—I simply plugged it into my car’s OBD2 port and connected it via Bluetooth to my phone. There was no complicated pairing process or confusing instructions; it just worked. The most valuable feature for me is its ability to read and clear trouble codes. I had an issue with a misfiring cylinder, and the scanner was able to pinpoint the exact problem with a clear error code. This allowed me to research the issue online and feel confident when talking to a mechanic. I wasn't going in blind, and I saved myself from potentially being overcharged for a simple fix. It gives me a sense of security to know what’s going on under the hood without relying solely on a professional.Beyond just reading codes, this tool provides a wealth of real-time data. I can monitor things like engine RPM, coolant temperature, fuel system status, and even oxygen sensor voltage directly from my phone. I particularly enjoy creating a custom dashboard of gauges within the accompanying app. During a long drive, I can keep an eye on my car's performance metrics, which is not only informative but also genuinely fun. The data refresh rate is surprisingly fast, giving me a live, accurate view of what’s happening.Another huge benefit is its "auto sleep" and "wake-up" function. I can leave it plugged in all the time without worrying about it draining my car's battery. This is a game-changer because I don’t have to remember to plug it in every time I want to use it. It just sits there, ready to connect whenever I need it. Its compact size is also a plus; it fits neatly in the port without getting in the way of my leg or anything else. The device is compatible with a wide range of third-party apps, which means I can choose the interface and features that best suit my needs. All in all, this scanner has proven to be an incredibly useful and reliable tool. Its ability to demystify car problems and provide me with detailed, real-time data is its greatest strength. It has saved me time and money by allowing me to diagnose issues myself, and its convenient auto-sleep feature means I never have to worry about leaving it plugged in. While the quality of the experience can depend on the specific third-party app you use, the hardware itself is excellent. This is a must-have for any car owner who wants to feel more in control of their vehicle's health.

Vgate iCar Pro 2S Bluetooth OBD2 Scanner
We've used this code reader several times on 4 different vehicles. It took some playing around on the app to figure out what was what. All of the code information matched the code info we got when we took the vehicles to Auto Zone and O'Reilly's.

Couldn't figure it out
We just helped our daughter buy her first (used) car, which started having battery issues a few months later. I picked this scanner up to see if it could help us determine if the battery was bad and to also keep around in case of future maintenance issues. I tried following the usage instructions, but they were very confusing. I got the corresponding app downloaded, but it might as well have been speaking Greek; I couldn't make heads or tails of what it was telling me. My husband (who has slightly more car knowledge than I do) couldn't read it either. This scanner might be okay for helping experienced car mechanics identify issues, but it's not for ordinary car owners in my opinion. I gave two stars just in case it's user error on my part, but I'm fairly tech-savvy, so I don't think that's the case.
