Nicely Thematic, But Simplistic
This Peaches Castle set is designed to be used in conjunction with at least one of the interactive character sets (i.e. Mario, Luigi or Peach in particular). It provides the Castle as the setting, along with some interactive elements, and three new characters in the form of Roy, a Chain Chomp (so cool) and Toad (Peach's loyal friend). There's no much to it though; sure the throne rotates, but overall it's a mildly interactive backdrop. Still, with the other set, it adds a lot of depth.

Lego set
My Grandson was so excited when he got this. He loves being able to smash down one part of it and then re build it again and again.

Castle Breaking
The media could not be loaded. The castle itself is a fun little build and goes together quite easily. Fortunately, Lego have now included an instruction booklet with the kit rather than the instructions all being through the app. The instructions are all diagrammed and super easy to follow. The bricks are the same high quality that you would expect from the market leader. This is designed very much like a traditional playset. The sides of the castle fold inwards to make a nice square footprint (especially if you don't have the little garden piece attached to the front. The hinges are good and strong and easily allow you to then open the castle up for play. There is a tower that you can "collapse" with a built in mechanism to push it upwards - this is a very basic mechanism and it only dislodges the tower rather than pushing it off. One of the walls pushes inwards as though it has been broken through. The castle can defend itself though as there is a little slingshot for firing cannonballs from one of the towers - it can flick the little black spheres quite a way if you flick it just right so be careful. The Roy character is a fun build and he is surprisingly sturdy once constructed. His chain chomp chariot is fun as well.To get the best out of this set and be able to use the interactive elements you do need to have one of the separately sold Mario, Luigi or Peach figures. These figures have a sensor that reads the barcodes on some of the tiles and then interact with them. You will also need to download the Lego Super Mario App on your chosen device and then pair the figure with the app; each time a new range is released you need to reconnect the figure to the app in order to update it for the new types of interactions included. I do have the Mario figure and I have attached a video of him interacting with these elements. You can, obviously, build and enjoy this model without going to that additional outlay. You don't get any minifigures with the set so would have to use your own but this would lead to more imaginative play.Number Of Pieces: 738Approximate Price Per Piece: £0.08Build Time: 1 Hour and 45 Minutes
