This calendar has become a daily ritual I actually look forward to. Every morning I tear off a new page and get hit with a word that’s either unfamiliar, oddly specific, or just plain fun. The mix of definitions, pronunciation, sample usage, and etymology makes each entry feel complete, not just a dictionary blurb.It’s surprisingly satisfying—like brain coffee. Some words are obscure enough that I’ll never use them, but that’s part of the charm. If you’re a student, a writer, or just someone who likes feeling a little sharper before lunch, this is a no-brainer.Solid gift idea too.

So fun to see my boss use. He used to come to me for his word of the day, but now I go to him! It’s always fun to see what word comes up and to see him try and fit it into his sentences throughout the day.

I like this best of the various word of the day calendars. The word choice is a good mix of moderately familiar to pretty obscure words. The definitions are comprehensive and there is usually an my example sentence or quote. I especially appreciate the etymology section.I homeschool my kids (6th thru 10th grade) and often use these words in their vocab lessons.

Gave this to my husband for Christmas. He is enjoying learning a new word each day and sometime tells me the word and definition.

I bought this to improve my son’s vocab for the ACT but there are a lot of really advanced words. Not sure if it will help the ACT but definitely exposes you to new words.

We have bought this word-a-day for the last 5 years. It's a fun way to start the morning, a cup of coffee, a light breakfast and a challenge to get your minds going. My wife and I alternate every other day, so I get a challenge, then the next day it's her turn.If we don't know the work off the bat, they have a sentence (like phone a friend for help!), that we can ask for to help figure it out.It's fun and surprising how many works we know and how many we don't. When we have guest we share with them the word of the day and they also love the challenge.

For more than 15 years, I purchased this calendar for myself. Several years ago, the manufacturer changed the backing - it had a plastic stand for years. Sadly, within a few months, the backing has deteriorated. I've used tape, glue, and paper clips to keep it up right.I'll buy it again, because I like it, but disappointed on this new design.
