Sony RDR-HXD870 - DVD Recorder With 160GB Hard Drive - With Freeview - Black

Q: my dvd rdr-hx870 it has stopped dubbing from hd to dvd,it also has stopped playing dvds,i can hear a scratching noise from the dvd loader ,any ideas?

sorry i cant really help mine stopped playing dvds after about 15 months, it wont do anything with a dvd at all. its just a rubbish machine, i would not advise anyone to get one.

Q: can you put a blank DVD into it and record from the Television.

You can either record to the built in hard drive and then transfer to DVD disc or record directly to dvd discs.

Hi Sara, this Sony RDR-HXD870 is a HDD ( HARD DISC DRIVE ) recorder and player and DVD recorder and player the HDD has not to large a memory only 160 GB but you can still record ( I think )about 80hrs of films. I hope this helps.

Q: Why isn't the "series record" option sometimes available - a freeview problem? is there a workaround?

I've not seen that problem in all the years I've used this recorder. And I use Freeview, so it looks as if Freeview is innocent. Can'r suggest anything, really.
