TMB Motorsports Retractable Cargo Cover for 2017+ Mazda CX-5

Pros: Good quality fabric, easy to install, plenty of travel to fully open trunk. Fit well in my 2018 CX5, packaged well (plastic bag & soft plastic liner in box)Cons: product arrived broken (it did not retract) out of the box. Luckily it was easy to repair. No manual or customer support/product information in the boxIf yours arrives broken, or does not retract over time (this repair takes about 10 minutes):This is likely because the internal spring has become loose. Luckily it is easy to repair.1 - Once removed from your car, simply remove both endcaps (by removing 4 standard phillipshead screws), be sure to hold on to them securely as there are internal springs2 - Remove the internal endcaps and the roll of fabric and roll up the fabric around the tube3 - Remove the spring assembly system from the metal fabric roll tube (it probably came undone from one of the internal endcaps)4 - Using some needle-nose pliers, bend the end of the loop of the spring such that it will now securily hold on the one endcap, then re-insert the spring into the metal tube and attach the internal endcap5 - preload the spring by twisting the internal endcap about 10-15 times and reassemble the fabric roll into the housing with both internal endcaps6 - Insert the outer springs and outer endcaps and put the original 4 screws back lastI hope this helps!

Firstly, arrived without instructions, which is super helpful. This caused me, in trying to figure things out for myself, to break a piece of the clip on the rear door to which this attaches (of a brand new vehicle yay).Fits in well enough in the recesses near the rear seat (once you figure out on your own that's where it goes).It is designed to be left in place. Just from the couple of times that I hooked it and unhooked it from the dooe clips, it was clear this is a fidgety process and eventually if you did this often enough the clips on the rear door would either break or come loose completely. I hung a couple of carabiners on it to make it easier to get on and off.So, if you're a dog owner and don't want your animal cowering in complete darkness, this cover is not for you. I'd estimate ten trips with the dog in the car and at least one of the door clips would be toast.Options are: leave it in place, modify it like I did, or don't bother. This is as much the fault of Mazda for not designing a better anchor on the rear door....so just be aware.

I've looked at various types of these covers online as I did not want to spend the $$ which Mazda is asking for their OEM version. This is the closest you will get to the OEM and I think it's a great value for the money.What I like about this particular version of the cover is the fact that it has the plastic flaps which eliminate the space between the bar and the rear seats, and the said flaps recline along with the rear seats. The quality of this product is very high and I really can't complain about it.The main difference between this and the OEM product is that the original Mazda cover has a see-through mesh at the bottom, allowing you to see the car's cabin as you're loading up the hatch. Not a big deal to me, and not worth the difference in price. Aside from that, every bit as good as the Mazda original.UPDATE - Changed my review to 4 stars. This thing is almost impossible to unclip, as few other owners have also stated. I'm not sure if the wire is too thick, but I've almost put out my back trying to unclip this thing. Very disappointing and frustrating.

We were able to install very easily and it looks really nice, completely cover the cargo/trunk area to prevent anyone from seeing contents through rear window. Quality material and finish, have not tried to remove it yet so I cannot speak to how easy it might be to remove it. The only complaint I have is that the edge on the side of the cover are left raw, there is no finishing trim or reinforced stitching to prevent fraying over time. I feel that given the price the sides of the cover should be more finished

After reading some of the reviews stating that is extremely difficult to remove the cargo cover once it is installed, I was hesitant to purchase one. However, the price and otherwise positive comments were impressive. So, I purchased the TBM Cargo Cover for our 2019 Mazda CX-5. I am relieved to be able to report that it fits perfectly. It took less than a minute to install and less than a minute to remove. I had no difficulty with either the installation or removal. Perhaps there has been a design change with either the cargo cover or the 2019 CX-5.The important things I did observe: The cargo cover did not come with instructions.The ends of the cargo cover main body contain springs and are easy to slide for installation and removal.The CX-5 attachment assembly on the rear hatch has a hook and safely latch, for lack of anything better to name them. The attachment bar on the cargo cover must rest on top of the CX-5 hook and below the CX-5 safety latch. The safety latch prevents the cargo cover from accidentally coming loose. If the cargo cover bar is allowed to get on top of the safety latch it will be difficult to remove it.I am attaching pictures detailing the installation.

Product was delivered as promised. We clicked the cargo cover into place in seconds, pulled out the cover and clicked the clips onto the rear lift gate. Then we attempted to unclip from rear lift gate - not a chance that was going to happen. Checked the reviews that all said, easy to unclip...NOT mine. I called TMB, sent them photos and I am waiting for "help" to arrive. If I can ever gt this cover unclipped and working properly - I'll change to 5 stars. This review - to be continued.Update: I've increased the stars to 4 as I appreciate the workmanship of the product and the prompt response from TMB. However, this just did not work in my 2018 CX5 - even took it to the Mazda dealership and they could not make it functional. So it was returned. Good luck to others.
