Outstanding Performance and Durability - A Must-Have Tool..!
After consulting ChatGPT for an unbiased review of roofing nail guns and checking out YouTube, I decided to go with the BOSTITCH Coil Roofing Nailer (RN46), and I'm so glad I did. This nail gun is lightweight and incredibly easy to use, making it perfect for my first experience with a nail gun. Even though my project was small, having the RN46 made a huge difference. Without it, the task would have felt much more daunting, but with this tool, everything went smoothly and efficiently. It’s an excellent choice for beginners..!

So far so good
It's early days for me. I've only run about 1 case of nails (7,000 nails) through it, but it's awesome so far. I love it.The gun did jam one time, and when it did, it was a real doosey to get it un-jammed. But, I'm pretty sure I know *why* it jammed. My guys aren't real careful with the nail spools before putting them in the gun, sometimes storing them in their pockets, and I'm willing to bet the little copper wires holding the nails together were a bit bent, causing two of the nails to be too close to one another, and at the wrong angle to one another. The gun managed to get two nails at once into the firing chute, and really blasted them into one another. I had to knock the breach (the magazine -- also how you load this gun) with a hammer to get it open. But, the safety mechanism worked perfectly, and once it jammed, it wouldn't fire again until I got it cleared out. Once I managed to get the breach open, I just pried out the old nails with a screwdriver, pushed the piston back up, and there was no sign of any damage on the hardened steel mechanism. It worked flawlessly after that.I'm not super thrilled with the "black" trigger design (as opposed to the "gray" trigger). It DOES work the way a roofing nailer is supposed to work (depress the trigger first, then fire on bump), but sometimes I try to use the gun in a more precise way (like when I'm installing drip-edge), and position the nail accurately by depressing the safety first, THEN pulling the trigger. Good luck with that! Very often I end up double, or even triple firing. The trigger is just not made to be multipurpose. It's made for bump fire, not single fire. It'd be nice if it did both -- but that would probably be a way more complex (and expensive) design!I would buy this gun again if I needed another roofing nailer. In fact, I did! Now I've got two of them, and they both work great.

Worked as expected.
It only misfired with defective nails. It will double (recoil) fire if i get tired and dont use enough downward force or i nail into something hard. I put oil in it every time i reloaded the nails. The nailing position height adjustment setting (not the nail depth) is easy to bump and change to a smaller setting. This will to nailing into the wrong place. i had to pay attention to this. It did jam and was firing blanks (no nails) for about 5 times before i caught it. I installed 1000 SQ feet of shingles in about 4 hours. The nailer gets heaver as i got more tired .

Great value and solid tool!
I am building a garage and had a Ridgid R175RNE sitting around forever unused. I got it out oiled it and started using it, and couldnt get it to sink 1-3/4" HD galvanized roofing nails. It kept Jamming, so I tried to find what was up with it online just to find that there was a recall on it and I sent it back to Ridgid (one world technologies) I pick up this nailer from amazon because I have the bostich strapshot and the cap siding nailer too and they are great. Out of the box little bit of oil the thing just went to town putting nails in without blinking. put in about 3 square and it jammed once. I cant blame the jam on the gun, because when I opened up the magazine I noticed that the nails in the coil were bent ( the coil was from the bottom layer of the box and probably bent from being dropped). I'm not exactly sure if the gun i got was new or refurbished or just resold because bostich guns never come with the air hose adapter and this one had one on it already. The packaging looked new. Only wish was that it came with a case like my other bostich guns.

Useful even for casual use
I know some people dont think it is worth it to bet one of these just to do one roof however I like how you can get an attachment to use this on vinyl siding. Normally when my family does a roof we can easily get more man power (uncles and grand parents no cousins because they dont go on the roof -.-) sadly this time it was only two of us most of the time which lead me to getting this nailer.I will say that with this nailer you can really get shingles down fast which was the point since we were on a time crunch since winter rain season was coming.Okay on to the product itself. This thing is hefty and very easy to use. The first few times it is a little unnerving but you get use to it quick (the kickback and how to line it up). If you are going really fast you definitely need something better then small air compressor from Lowes however my compressor was easy to carry around on the roof though which was nice (didnt have a long hose). It worked out well though for one man operation since laying the shingles gives the air compressor time to catch up.It did jam a little and a lot of times it was just how you used it... if you ran the pressure down it tends to jam however a screw driver and a hammer takes care of that. Normally I would go through a few coils before it would jam.It does have a nice feature where you can hold the trigger down and push the nailer down and it will fire. Not the safest thing however it is a bit faster then the pulling the trigger each time.Oh... the tip does seem prone to rusting so I will clean it and oil or grease it while it is waiting for my next roof.
