No I doubt it. If the sun has bleached it out or faded it won’t bring it back.

Q: What do you recommend for slightly deeper scratches, please

If the scratch is deep that your finger nail gets stuck. Then unfortunately you will require correct paint job from bodyshop.

Q: Can anyone tell me the grit rating ie. 1000, 1500 etc?

Not sure but temper what you need to what you are polishing. I've polished alloy wheels using wet and dry from 100 to 1500 also wire wool and t cut.
