Canon Printers are not as good as they used be!
Sadly Canon printers are not as good as they used to be, both 80 & 90 series suffer from print head issues, sometimes right out of the box, and two I've had have only lasted 4 and 6 years before the "Support Code140B - The type of print head is incorrect. Install the correct print head". I use mine at home for photo's and a few documents, so they are not overused. The last one was in use and on going to print a document in a run of seven I was printing, the 140B came up - rendering the printer useless! Canon's support is pitiful, and they wanted 'a minimum charge of £200' to repair it!!! Lesson learned - shop around and read all user reviews, for whichever make you buy. For me Canon is way down the list! Also Canon's own inks are hideously expensive!

This is the best A4 printer I have used
Lovely, Crisp pictures. Fast text printing. Use mainly for photo printing. This is the best A4 printer I have used. Would recommend.

Avoid
Compared to the MX range of Canon printers this model seems ridiculously flimsy, despite being priced at a premium. I bought it because of its small footprint, but started to have second thoughts after turning it on for the first time. Mine has now broken down, making an awful grinding noise, refusing to print colour, and banding on b&w prints. I've tried all the maintenance options, spoken to canon and John Lewis and it is going in for a repair which will take up to 28 days.I'll be putting it on ebay when it comes back, and buying an MX model.(bought from John Lewis)

Inexcusable that Canon is OK with wasting customer's time like this! Other than that the printer looks great
Trouble with the print head straight out of the box from a brand new printer - error code 140B -'The type of print head is incorrect. Instal the correct print head'Frustratingly Canon help line is closed at weekends when their domestic customers are probably using the equipment most. Will update when, or if, I ever get this printer to work. Inexcusable that Canon is OK with wasting customer's time like this!Other than that the printer looks great, has a small footprints, and nice touch screen.Update - a year later: took a lot of time to sort out the problem with Canon direct - had to send it back and eventually was able to use the machine 3 months after buying it. Hoped this would be a great printer but it is far too full of superfluous functions, doesn't interface with the Mac computer well ( always has to be reset to be found by the Mac etc. ), and has a slow complaining menu, asking for paper from trays you don't even know existed etc. and not obvious how to reset to the tray it's asking for - in short not user friendly. Ink is also far too expensive. If you want a printer that just gets on with it then this isn't it. Maybe if you want a specialist high quality print machine and you can work out all its details this is for you - but suspect not.
