Works best with the back down so the picture will come out easier!The method of input of the pictures only allows for three or four different sizes and if the developer used a different size print, which was common back in the '60s, '70s and '80's there is a lot of need to cut edges of the pictures or they are too small for the fixed slide.It is a very slow process for photo input and it requires constant retrieval of photos that fall out of the slide.The negative slide only accommodates several sizes and not very user-friendly.The input method could have an easy fix if they had a holder that would allow the guides to slide and photo to go to the lower level and hold in what-ever size picture that needs input.The resolution is a little bit to be desired, it is not as good as on a flatbed scanner.getRR

Purchased in order to copy old slides and photos. It was difficult to use, every single slide had to be carefully aligned in order to use and get good results. Would not purchase again.

Slide holder locking tabs only lasted a couple hundred slides. When the locks do not hold slide firmly in place the slide drops down leaving a black strip on the top of the picture and reduce the image buy 10%. Color filters somewhat effective and indents on slide holder wares out fast so that you have to position the slide back and forth until it is centered. Very cheap plastic used in construction. Not a very professional duplicator.

I received the unit, with all the parts included. I tried it with 35 mm negatives, in pretty good shape. The viewer screen was not only scratched, but too dim to be usable. If you get at a good angle to it, you can see what the picture is about. The CD was included, but useless for anything but reading business cards, which I didn't attempt. The CD sleeve was torn and looked very "handled".My negatives were flat, and locked intuitivly into the tray as I would have expected, and the tray slid through the unit relatively smoothly. I can see how curled negatives would cause trouble with the tray. The tray wasn't designed to accept any but flat negs. The menu was easy to navigate, and all buttons functioned well. BUT...BOTTOM LINE: This unit was obviously sold and returned and re-sold...I'm returning it! And they better not charge me shipping!

Amazon delivered this to me 2 weeks early! I got it to convert a few hundred slides. So far I've done around 300. If the slides are clean and widescreen, they come out beautifully. If they're square or perhaps a bit worn, well naturally they won't come out perfectly. But overall the quality of the scans is acceptable. You can select 5mp or 10mp. The set comes with a comb/brush, a 4gb SD card, a USB charger - so in my case I had to abandon the USA charger it comes with and just power it up with a local charger or just via the PC. I haven't tried out the photo option yet.

The screen is small, so hard to see what picture is of. Have only used it for slides, the try doesn't hold them very tight so they have a tendency to slip down to where part of the picture is cropped off.

Very fast and good quality scans. I have finished 1500 pictures of various sizes. Is a lifesaver for cleaning out boxes of pictures that have been in the closet. Scans as fast as you can insert a picture, press scan button and remove the picture, repeat. Very Satisfied

Big case, but all the important parts are in front, the power chord is about 7 inches long, limiting where the bulky thing can be set up. the screen is not visible from an angle, so you have to hover right on top of it to see it-for negatives 35mm-and whoever engineered it, did a bad job: the slot to insert the negatives, is right in the way of the short power chord, so every time you insert or pull out the tray, you have to move the cable, to get it out, and it is so short at times just unplugs..it is a circus to be able to use it. has no counter either, or outlet to a monitor or tv or usb...bad planning of this product.
