Writing my personal review and opinion after using the robot vaccume cleaner for one year.
Vacuuming:Based on my personal experience, We can not expect 100% cleaning results on the first, second, or even third consecutive day. This is because both the robot and ourselves need time to adjust to the robot's method of cleaning. When manually sweeping, our broom often doesn’t reach all the corners of the house, such as under cupboards and sofas. However, the robot reaches all possible corners, edges, and hard-to-reach areas, sucking up dust that may have been there for many days or even weeks. Therefore, you can expect a perfectly clean floor after a week of use.Initially during vaccuming, along with regular dust and hairs it picks up small insects, cockroaches,(Live or dead), safety-pins, hairpins, hairbands, coins, screws, etc, which might have dropped somewhere in hidden corners. After one month of use, the robot has provided us with a shiny, glass-like finish on the floor, which was not possible with manual sweeping or mopping. We’ve also noticed that the robot picks up dust from the joints or cracks between the granite or tiled floors, giving it a much cleaner appearance.**Mopping:**From my experience, it is better to start the mopping function immediately after vacuuming. The gap between the two tasks may not yield effective results. During mopping, the robot does not spray excess water on the floor or create any mess. It uses the proper flow of water, ensuring the floor dries within minutes. After mopping, the floor looks dry, clean, and shiny. The robot does not leave any gaps and performs the mopping very neatly.**Visually Impaired Friendly:**The robot is visually impaired-friendly in all possible ways. It makes voice announcements and alerts before, during, and after cleaning, and also notifies you whenever something is stuck. The voice notifications are clear and helpful. However, the Android app and map management could be improved to provide a TalkBack screen reader-friendly interface.**Offline Working:**For this model, an internet connection is not mandatory for basic operations. You can control most of the functions with the remote control. When offline, the robot can still perform auto-cleaning, multi-floor cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, and other tasks. You can also schedule cleaning, use edge cleaning mode, max mode, or focus on a particular area, all without an internet connection. with the help of remote This makes it a great choice for those who do not have internet access at home. When internet is available, it can be controled through an android app, with lot of advanced customizations and settings**Cleaning and Maintenance:**The cleaning components, such as the primary filter, HEPA filter of the dustbin, side brushes, and main brush, are easily removable and easy to clean. It is recommended to clean the dustbin every day, the side and main brushes daily or once in two days and check the wheels once every week. By keeping the robot clean, you can expect great results.Washing the mopping cloth, emptying the water from the mopping unit, and drying it after each use will also contribute to maintaining good cleaning performance.**Excellent Customer Support:**The customer support from Ilife is outstanding. They respond to queries and resolve issues quickly. After 11 months of use, I faced a mechanical problem with the mopping unit’s water tank release mechanism. I contacted iLife regarding this issue, and they responded promptly. They asked me to send the robot and its accessories to their service center for free repair under warranty. They even arranged for pickup and delivery at no cost to me. After about 15 to 20 days, they fixed the problem and sent the robot back, and it has been working perfectly ever since.Additionally, from the moment I requested technical support, they maintained regular contact, updating me on each step and progress. They even called after the repair to confirm that the robot was working well and to ask if they could close the ticket. One downside was that the repair process took a long time due to the robot having to be sent to Delhi. It would have been better if there was a service center in a nearby city like Bengaluru.**Few Other Points I Like About the Robot:**The LiDAR technology used in this robot for navigation, mapping, and cleaning is highly precise and performs well. It covers all areas of the house and cleans systematically without repeating or cleaning the same area again. The robot avoids obstacles efficiently and sometimes surprises me by returning to a particular spot it may have missed earlier, then resuming its work in another room. It rarely misses a spot, although there are some complex areas it cannot reach where dust may remain. These areas can be cleaned twice or thrice a month by moving furniture or allowing the robot to clean in another room, which enables it to reach all the corners and hard-to-reach areas. In regular cleaning, the robot may miss some areas, like behind the sofa legs or wall corners where furniture is placed. However, this is not a significant issue.**Drop Sensors – A Reliable Technology:**One of the most reliable and impressive features of this robot is its drop sensors. They effectively prevent the robot from falling down stairs or edges. When cleaning, the robot navigates carefully when nearing stairs or other drops. This feature gave me the confidence to purchase the robot and allows me to leave it cleaning the first floor without worrying about it falling.**Reliable Battery Backup:**The robot’s battery backup is excellent for cleaning an average-sized home. After a full charge, even after vacuuming and mopping the ground and first floor, it still retains 40 to 50 percent of its battery. For regular vacuuming and mopping of the ground floor, it consumes about 30 to 35 percent of its battery.**My Advice to Users:**For tiled or granite floors, without any carpets, installing a silicone rubber brush provides very neat cleaning and picks up dust efficiently. Sometimes, using a bristle brush leaves some particles of dust behind if observed carefully. However, a bristled brush is better suited for homes with carpets, as they also need to be vacuumed.**Suggestions for Improvements:**Unfortunately, this model of robot doesn’t allow users to control the water flow during mopping. It also doesn’t support multiple timer scheduling through the remote control.Another feature that could be added is voice notifications when the dustbin or mopping unit is installed or removed. It would be helpful to know which unit is installed at any given time. Additionally, if automatic cleaning is scheduled, the robot should not start without confirming whether the necessary attachments are installed or notify the user if something is missing. If the dustbin is not installed, the robot should not start vacuuming or should notify the user. Currently, it starts cleaning without verifying whether all attachments are in place.**Conclusion:**Before concluding, I’d like to mention how impressive it is to watch the robot start cleaning by moving from the charging dock and then return so neatly and silently after finishing the task.As a final note:At this price, the robot offers excellent value, with all the latest technology to provide efficient cleaning with low maintenance costs. It saves a lot of time and eliminates the need to wait for someone to clean. It has truly become a part of our life and a member of our household.

Must have for a pet owner
Update after 3 years (Almost) - The bot is useful as it was on the first day. Still have to clean daily the dust tank and detangle roller brushes. The all silicone roller brush is less prone to tangling human hair. But hair being hair finds creative ways to win in the smallest grooves. So best to clean daily. Obstacle navigation is better now. Does not get confused when running into humans anymore. Two big lessons i've learned over the years are 1. Remember the furniture positions where the base station is at. Sometimes moving the furniture too much confuses the bot when it starts and says 'relocation failed' . 2. In spite of being careful 'relocation failed' error frequency increases over time (months) and the maps have to be redone.Thought of upgrading to self-emptying bots. But i realize that they dont help with dentangling the roller brushes which is the hard job. Emptying tank is easy. So, sticking with this.If you have a pet that sheds, you are probably going to find this very useful. It was a revelation for me as to how much my dog sheds when i saw the amount the amount of pet hair iLife a10s collected. I clean the dust container and wheel brushes almost daily . I like to keep my equipment clean. It also helps the cleaner give its best each time it cleans. The map function in the device is perfect. It scans the house quickly and it homes in on the base station also perfectly. The device is great at navigating random obstacles as long as they are not human. The moment it comes across a human in its path, it cancels its program and goes back to the base station. So, stay out of its way when its cleaning. Cleaning is 80-90% good. Meaning there are going to be missed spots . No harm in doing another run on a given room or a spot! costs nothing. For best results remove as much furniture as you can from the floor and pickup bits of paper or other non-dust/hair items from the floor. These tend to jam the cleaner. This is not like your regular vac that can suck in even larger pieces of garbage. I also found that its best to keep the base station on a power line that has a UPS/Inverter on it. The robovac got confused mid cleaning when power went out. I had to re-pair the bot to the wifi. For cleaning, Its easy to remove the dust containers, wheel brushes etc., detangling human hair from the wheel brushes is going to be the only biggie. Pet hairs are not long enough to tangle and end up in the dust container . Its easier if you clean it every day after a cleaning session. Keeps the job simpler. The dust container and the brush lids plastics are not the best quality, but they are not bad either. I have not tried mopping. Our house help does the sweeping and mopping at a different time. Yes, the bot collects a container full of pet hair and dust 12 hours later in spite of the house help's efforts. Its easier in weekends too after a session of cleaning cobwebs and AC filters one has to just make sure all the dust is on the floor and ask the bot to clean it up.Post cleaning the floors feel like they have been mopped (even if i dont use the mop function). It does a good job. Neither this product nor our house help can do 100% percent clean job day after day. At least the robot will happily clean your whole house the second time without grumbling.I end up using the smart app and room specific cleaning function all the time asking the kids/pet to stay out of the room being cleaned. The fact that this cleans under the bed and steel almirahs keeps those spots clean too. House helps usually miss those on a regular basis.make sure to mark virtual walls to your no-go areas such as bathroom or balconies from where it cannot come back on its own or is likely to get damaged. At times i've noticed that it gets stuck between dining table chairs and asks for help to get out of the spot. More often than not i have had to restart the room cleaning from the beginning. Its easier to keep the dining chairs out of its way (like on the table itself) so that the bot can clean without obstructions.Lesser the obstructions faster it cleans as it does not have to slow down to navigate the obstacle. Thanks to lidar and obstacle sensor it does not ram into obstacles. It slows down automatically when it nears an obstacle and carefully navigates it. Since this is down slowly & carefully, it slows down the cleaning process. So, removing obstacles speeds up cleaning time.Is it worth the price? I'd say yes especially if you have a pet and you find yourself constantly dusting pet hair from everything in the house.August 2022My app said that the twin brushes, main brush and the hipaa filter are nearing 50% efficiency. a visual inspection shows only the main brush having a lot of wear. What happens is the hair when it tangles on the main brush tightly coils around it and cuts through the softer rubber parts. The cuts increase as time goes by as more and more hair tangles around the brush. I guess we may have to replace the main brush every 6 months or so. I'm okay with that. The container gets full with just about 600 sqft of vaccuuming. Thats how much dust and pet hair it picks up. No complaints.[November 2024] The device is going strong. The glitchy behaviors described above when encountering humans is no longer there. Maybe an update resolved it. An important lesson learned is that, when the bot starts from its charging station, its very important that the furniture placement in that room is as it was when the mapping was done(sofas, chairs etc.,). If the furniture gets moved a bit, it fails to detect in which room of the house it is and goes back to charging station saying relocation-failed. So remember the furniture placementAnother big lesson is that the bristle-free roller brush is best for human hair. The fully rubber brush (no bristles) is relatively tangle free. I still end up cleaning the tank after each vacuuming session, but i don't have to detangle hair with this roller.
