The effects of alpha lipoic acid are mainly due to their antioxidant activity. Free radicals are responsible for oxidative stress. Alpha lipoic acid belongs to the group of versatile antioxidants, it can degrade oxidative stress both externally and within cells. Alpha-lipoic acid can have anti-inflammatory, antimutagenic, and anticarcinogenic effects. The number of free radicals in the human organism increases with increasing age inter alia. Through environmental toxins, smoking, alcohol consumption, medication, radiation exposure (UV light, radio waves). Free radicals interfere with intercellular metabolic processes; they are also responsible for the development of various physical ailments. Alpha lipoic acid can render free radicals harmless and return oxidized free-radical scavengers such as vitamin C, vitamin E and coenzyme Q10 to their original active form. The dietary supplement with PriosaLIPON R can provide a substantial increase in the so-called antioxidant capacity in the body. Just as the left and right hand are mirror images of each other, alpha-lipoic acid is found in two forms: the right-handed R (+) form and the left-handed S (-) form. Many commercially available alpha-lipoic acid preparations consist in equal parts of R (+) and S (-) - alpha-lipoic acid (50% + 50%). In PriosaLIPON R of Sanopoly only the right-hand rotation of the R (+) form is used (100%), as it is produced by the body itself. Our practice experience has shown that the R (+) form can be well tolerated, in contrast to the synthetically produced S (-) form. The S (-) form can be a strain on the organism and can hinder the beneficial properties of R (+) - alpha lipoic acid in micro-metabolic processes. Ingredients: R (+) - alpha-lipoic acid, cornstarch (filler), modified Celullose (sustained release capsule).
