Super easy to swap out these shells , thankful for the included YouTube video as well. Love the way these feel. The soft material and gray look & feel great!The only reason I cant give it 5 stars is due to the transparent clear plastic where the blue light shines through. It did not look smooth enough for my liking so I took the extra time to remove the factory transparent plastic and retro fit it onto the custom shells I ordered. It looks a lot nicer that way and feels as if this was a version released by PlayStation. Other than that, super happy with the outcome of my Portal!

Got a Portal for pretty cheap, and saw this replacement shell, and having modified numerous controllers over the years, figured I'd give it a shot. I will say, the surface texture/finish on this shell is distinctively different from the OEM shell. This one is pretty darn smooth, and has no textured grips, or any texturing at all. This can be a good thing for some folks, but if you're used to how a Dualsense/Portal feels, it's gonna take awhile to get used to, and will never feel quite as premium.Outside of that, another issue I had is that it's a complete pain to install. Removing the clips for the OEM shell are a pain, and as you'll learn later in the process, opening the thing back up to adjust the feel of the dpad and face buttons makes it a potentially frequent headache. The difficult is not the fault of this product, keep in mind, but it is something to be aware of.What I can fault this product are a few specific things, at the least. First of all, the LED light guides that you see on the OEM shell are pretty diffuse, so the whole plastic light guide lights up. This looks fantastic, and would look great with this black shell, EXCEPT, the light guides that come with this shell are completely translucent, so essentially you just see the single LED on each side when they light up. Not only does it not look nearly as cool, but it's also pretty harsh on the eyes, especially at night if you're playing in bed. There is a solution to the problem, but it requires some very careful surgery, and permanently modifying the OEM and replacement shell. Unfortunately, the light guides are not screwed, or even glued, into place. Instead, there are holes in the light guide that match up to plastic pegs that are molded into the OEM and replacement shell. Once the light guides are put in the right spot, the plastic pegs have been melted, essentially turning them into permanent plastic rivets. What this means is that if you want to get that frosted look back, you need to individually shave off the plastic rivet tops on the shells, hopefully not slipped and permanently marking either shell, swap the light guides, and then carefully install the handles back in place without them slipping. I did try a bit of superglue to hold one side in place, but regretted it immediately, as the glue interacted poorly with the (acrylic?) light guides, permanently marring them, and even getting a bit of glue residue on the front replacement shell handle. Thankfully, it's not really visible without close scrutiny, but it's easy to mess up. Regardless, if you do this mod, you can get back the original look for the light guides, which is much nicer to view.Another issue is I'm not sure how accurate the spots for the dpad/buttons are. They feel pretty good in the OEM shell, but have required a decent amount of fiddling of the screws holding things in place on the replacement shell, and even after multiple tries to get things right, they still aren't quite as nice feeling. Could just be a skill issue, but considering the rest of the build, I think it's more likely to be an issue with the generally not-quite-there build quality and fit and finish.However, if you do go this route, manage to get the light guides swapped, and get the buttons feeling right, it's a pretty handsome device once all is said and done, and looks pretty darn sweet, and is much cheaper than buying one of the newer Portals in this color scheme.

Everything fit well with this replacement shell. I was able to follow the YouTube instructions in about 30 minutes time. The shell feels better than the original because to me it feels a little softer and has more grip.The only thing I would like is to have the buttons in black as well. I still think the portal looks better in black. If you are sick of the white look of the portal and don't mind doing a little work I recommend this product.

It’s that soft-ish, smooth-feeling plastic that gets greasy. I don’t know what that’s called. Hate it. Not for me.

This replacement shell is an exact match, everything lines up and clicks into place. I forgot to snap pics before putting the clear shell case on, but you get the idea. I definitely would recommend this case and i plan to buy more in the future because i like swapping out cases, controllers, phone cases you name it on the regular.Thanks for reading

This replacement is fantastic! I wish it had instructions or a guide, but I found everything I needed on YouTube. It looks and feels great, and it’s pretty easy to put together.

The shell has a good soft touch feel to it, not cheap at all! Pretty easy to disassemble and install this shell. No fitment issues at all.
