THIS is the one to get!!
The content of this show is just mind-blowingly good but if you're interested in this set then you already know that so I'll talk more about the product itself (packaging, etc.).First, let me say that you might be tempted to get "more bang for your buck" and buy one of the available sets that contains all things "Twin Peaks" (S1, S2, Fire Walk With Me, S3-The Return). Let me be the first to tell you: DON'T! I did and ended up buying this anyway. There's just NOT a way to put 20+ discs into one case without making some sacrifices and both sets I've seen ("Twin Peaks Z to A" and "Twin Peaks - The Television Collection") are great examples of this. The packaging is clunky and since the discs are "stacked" four to a page inside the case, you can potentially have to remove as many as 3 other discs to get to the one you are after. Between that and the fact that discs are stack directly on top of each other, the opportunity for disc damage is VERY real. I found out the hard way after I'd watched my set twice. The third time through, 2 discs were suddenly skipping and locking on me due to scratches and scuffing despite being very careful with them.In THIS set, you get 8 discs, one to page within the case. It's plenty slim enough (about the width of 2 single-disc blu ray cases stacked on top of each other, but holds the discs securely. It allows for easy flipping to get to exactly the one you're after w/o having to mess with any of the others and it's super safe and easy to remove and replace each disc without damage. As for content, the transfers are brilliant and each disc contains 2 or 3 episodes; some have extras, some do not (Disc 8 is only extras). All told, the extras are PLENTIFUL but to be honest, I'll probably watch that stuff once or twice at most; the show itself is of course the attraction here and it's brilliant, both in content and packaging, so I'm super excited to have this set and confident that it will be the last one I'll need to buy.If you pair this set with Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery, you get all 3 season and the prequel movie "Fire Walk With Me", The Missing Pieces, both the U.S. and International versions of the pilot plus more extras than you'll know what to do with. It will cost you a little more than buying one of the "all in one" packages, but it's worth it to have the better packaging and knowing that you won't have to re-buy at anytime due to damaged discs!https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GRU59XE?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

The Return completes the epic adventure that began "25 years" prior
If you're looking at getting The Return, chances are you've already watched the first two seasons of Twin Peaks. In that case, absolutely get this because why wouldn't you want to know how the story ends? Now, if you're getting this because someone recommended Twin Peaks to you and you're buying all three seasons at once, you're in for a treat. Twin Peaks has had such a massive influence on modern filmmaking and shows/movies you've probably already seen -- so it's worth watching even just for the cultural literacy aspect. But the reason *why* it had such an influence is because of the unique ways David Lynch, Mark Frost, et al were able to evoke such powerful emotions through the cinematography and storytelling throughout the series. The series is truly a work of art in every way: visually, audially, and through the narrative and character building. Haunting, cerebral, and often heart-warming, it's sure to carve out a permanent place in your psyche. On word of warning for those accustomed to today's fast-paced and flashy cinema: it does start out a bit slow. Think of it as a series of moving paintings, in a way. If you're easily bored, it's possible to miss what's so great about it. But it really is worth sticking with -- there's nothing else quite like it.
