Beautiful Modern Quilts Made with Outdated, Old-School Methods
I have been a fan of Kaffe Fassett for many years, going back to "Glorious Knits." I love the bold, large-scale prints he designs in rich, saturated colors. This book is full of eye candy and I would like to sew almost every quilt in it. However, the methods used in the patterns are extremely outdated. For example, for the "Stonewall" quilt, the instructions tell you to cut your fabric into squares (it doesn't tell you how many), cut the squares on the diagonal to make 2,160 triangles, and then sew these triangles together to make 1,080 half-square triangle units. It doesn't tell you what the finished measurement of those HST should be, and you have to figure out how many of them you need by doing the math. If you are an experienced quilter, you would look at the pattern and know to use the Magic Eight method or some other easier, faster way to make all of those HST without cutting and sewing literally thousands of tiny, separate pieces. I bought the book to make "Starburst," which is a traditional Lone Star, and the instructions tell you to make a template and cut pairs of parallelograms by hand---you can bet I'll be online, looking for a faster, more accurate way to make this with my rotary cutter, some strip sets, and my ruler. As I said, the pictures and projects in this book are truly amazing, but the how-to section leaves MUCH to be desired.

Kaffe Fassett's Quilts in America
Beautiful book with pictures of vintage American Quilts, and contemporary quilts that were inspired by those early quilts. Patterns, and directions for the "new" quilts are well written, and executed in the author's signature fabrics. The featured antique quilts include comments on the history of each (when available), and what was particularly striking to the author.

Another winner!
This is one of my favorites of all of Kaffe Fassett’s quilting books. These beautiful antique quilts have been reproduced in colorful Kaffe Fassett fabrics. And the results are beautiful.I have sewn several quilts from his other books, using his fabrics. These same quilts were soaked in the “Harvey” floodwaters. After washing several times to sanitize them, the quilts still look great. The colors did not fade at all.I have rarely found a quilting book that contains more that one or two quilts that i want to reproduce, but this book is the exception.

Another Kaffe Fassett wonder book!
KF's books are always an explosion of color and a lesson in color placement. This one is a favorite of mine. You'll become addicted to his fabrics!!!

Looking forward to making a quilt from the patterns, but it is a nice book just to look at.

Lovely book ...
This probably the best book for Kaffe Fassett I own, and I own several. It has just gorgeous pictures and I love the choices in this book. Plenty of quilts to make from easy to more complicated. But the photos are to die for! Can't say enough good things about this book.

Lovely photos, great patterns
Gorgeous book. I personally would prefer it to be organised differently (all sections on one quilt together) but that's a very minor issue. Some great patterns, I'm dreaming of making several of these when I find the time and money.

Inspirational book
Beautiful photos of the original quilts and Kaffe’s interpretation of them in his own styled new quilts. It has inspired me to visit the American Museum in Bath to see them for myself. It is also an interesting and lovely book to read. I am a relatively proficient sewer but not an experienced quilter but this book is spurring me on to start a quilt although I have no idea what pattern to choose!

Kaffe at his best
This book contains another great selection from the Kaffe Fassett collective. Living near Bath and being a regular visitor to the American Museum, these quilts are familiar to me. The new interpretations are inspiring.
