Q: is it waterproof? How tall is it?

yes ,The shed is totally waterproof, The internal seal is very good. In addition, the surface of the storage shed has some concave grain to facilitate the drain off water. Height is 41 in

Q: Can you get replacement hinges for this storage shed ?

Yes, at any good hardware store.

Q: Is there any way to make the cheap, poorly designed prop work? (Rest of the construction is great so far, confused why the stand is so cheap.)

I couldn't figure it out at first either. Instructions tell you to turn the rod so that you can fit it in the slot and then turn it clockwise so that the angled bar at the top faces into the shed. What's not clear is that you have to insert it deeper into the wall. There's what looks like a channel at the top of that opening where the bottom of the rod could rest, but that's not what you want. You want the stop "shelf" that's a bit further down the wall. I will post a picture with my review.
