Beautiful book
My grandson picked this out for his dad who is an artist. My son loved it! A lovely book!

Typical Taschen Production
Thick as a brick, unfamiliar and unique photos, well prosed and high-quality paper and binding. Taschen knows how to put out something that's coveted and becomes a hand me down.

Not what I expected
This is a beautiful book and I’m going to keep it, but it’s not what I hoped it would be. I guess I should have read the description more carefully. I wanted a book of photos of Egyptian art and artifacts, and to read and learn about the style or history of the art, the culture, etc. This book is illustrations of Egyptian art done in the 19th century by someone who travelled there, with a brief paragraph giving a hint of info for each drawing. Not really an overview of Egyptian art that you can learn anything from. I’ll keep it because it’s still a beautiful book full of beautiful, inspirational drawings. But, reading other reviews, someone recommended instead two other books: The Art and architecture of ancient Egypt, by Yale university press, and The art of ancient Egypt by Gay Robins. Both of these books are on archive.org so I was able to do a full preview, and ended up ordering a practically brand new copy of the Gay Robins book from Abe books (which, btw, is also owned by Amazon), since it wasn’t available here at a reasonable price. This book is exactly what I wanted.

Well written but print waaaay too small:(
I wanted to LOVE this little guy but I have to struggle to read the print and pictures- which I was really looking forward to looking at the art especially.

Not chronological, just a book with drawingss of egyptian art.
Beautiful book, yet not what I thought it would be. The book is fool of beautiful illustrations of egyptian art, but absolitely zero photographs.. just drawings.. Also, the book is not chronological - there's no explanation how the art developed and changed through years, drawings are shown in a completely random order. I just wish it was a bit more detailed.
