The Hammerhead Gear Keep does a fine job of keeping my net or my wading staff close at hand when needed and out of the way when not needed. A good product that's well made and highly functional.

I bought one of these gear keepers a year ago, and the threaded screw pin on the back recently broke. I researched the other brands offered, but this still appears to be the best model. I bought a second and hope this one won’t break.

I use it for my wading staff while fly fishing. I have it attached to my wading belt. I got the proper lenth adjustment via the included harness and it hangs perfect when not in use. Have even walked along the trail and just let it drag, and it tugs it along fine. Would be great for a fishing net as well, if you can find a location for it. Easy to pull out and retracts perfectly. I would buy another just like this if needed.

Great piece of gear. Don't know how I lived without it. It's basically a heavy duty zinger. Your wading staff is there when you need it. Easily extends but retracts you staff when not in use.

I used to use a small bungee cord but want something to really get it out of my way so I bought this retractor. The loop clip is a little longer than I like and I couldn’t figure out a way to attach it to eliminate that extra 6 inches of length. I couldn’t figure out a way to attach it with the staff I wanted to use it on except to attach it to its handle which would have made the whole retracted length about 12 inches so I hooked it directly to an old Cabela staff I had where I could unscrew the top and avoid the fabric handle. I’ll have to do some disassembly of my other staff to figure out how to attach it. But the retraction mechanism is flawless.

I use it to attack wading cane to wader belt.

The gear keeper is an excellent product to hold your wading staff. Just the right amount of tension to the staff at your hip and expand to use your staff.
