Q: What is the expiration date on the Falksalt Crystal Flakes Natural Sea Salt Wild Mushroom 4.4 Oz?

Mine says. Use before October. 2015. Mine will be gone before that, but I wouldn't worry about that date. Salt is a well respected preservative. I think food companies have to put on dates ...?@

Q: Is this salt only for finishing and can you use it in cooking sauces, etc?

I totally cook with the smoked salt. Although it’s intended as a finishing salt with its lovely crystals, I whiz it in my mini blender until it’s easy to measure and to sprinkle on food at the table. Yes, it’s an indulgence to cook with flavored salt but the nuance that smoked salt adds to fish, beef, tomato, salads and chocolate makes it more than worthwhile for me.

Q: How is this salt black? I'm not aware of any natural source. Is this sea salt blended with activated charcoal?

I have not purchased this Black Sea salt, but have the Black Hawaian sea salt and it is excellent. Falksalt is a very good brand and I love a lot of their other flavored blends, makes a difference is cooking.
