I wish I could give the same excellent reviews as other have posted
I wish I could give the same excellent reviews as other have posted. The quality of the PDF once scanned is very good. The main problem I have with this is scanner is the frequency that the pages get jammed if I have to scan multiple pages to the point that I need to try to work around it for the document scanned to be one PDF and not multiple one. I don't have experience with other scanners as I have been using this one and my S300 Fujitsu portable scanner. I hope in the future it will be easier to scan multiple pages because right now this is what I need to do:Put one page at a time in the scanner, usually when the page is 1/2 way scanning I put the second one. When I try putting more pages in the tray to be scanned, eventually it jams the page.Sometimes I need to open the scanner (just press the grey release button above the scan button - This trick interrupt the scanning but keep the same PDF file when you resume scanning). My conclusion:It is a good scanner when it works. It needs a better way to handle multiple pages scanning.I am not sure by the price it is better than other scanners. The scanning software is a good.

Great software, good hardware.
This is a wonderful system -- the scans are clean, the Adobe Acrobat is almost worth the price of admission by itself, the scanning is lightening fast. After weeks of working with the scanner and the bundled Adobe Acrobat, I have pitched 11 full drawers of old records and taken up less than 10 gig of space on my Mac. I am well on the way to working virtually, from here, there, or anywhere. The occasional paper jams are annoying, but the office mammoth network scanner/copier jams, too. It's small, it sits right at the edge of my desk, and just whips through the new correspondence and prevents the files from growing, as I whittle them down. Oh, and it would be nice if it came packaged with a carrier sleeve for those odd size pages [they're not easy to find], but all in all it's a great machine.

Scansnap lives up to expectations for this MAC user.
I am rapidly digitizing my world & cleaning my desk of clutter saving all sizes of scraps of paper as well as standard size sheets of paper up to 8.5x14". I love it and am telling all my friends. Its only week link is scaning stacks of multiple sheets of paper which have been stapled (after staples have been removed) or are irregular in some manner. More than one page may go through together. The scanner recognizes this & stops scanning until reloaded. Software is 4 out of five & very easy to use. Scanning can be done at 5 levels of resolution. 4 works very well for pages which may need to be reprinted in the future at high resolution.

Not as good as they say - my 2 cents
I bought this on all the hype that is found in these amazon reviews of the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner for the MAC.The software works well. The problem is the hardware scanner. If you need to scan multiple pages at once, it can frequently grab more than one page in or out of alignment so that it scans none or just a little part of another page. The problem as I see it is that it is a vertical scanner. Many of the earliest fax machines had a vertical scanner with the same problems I am now experiencing. Do you see any vertical scan fax machines left anymore on the market. I have not. In those vertical fax machines, you had to watch the scanning of the fax pages to be sure it read them correctly or not. While you don't have to watch the scanning with Fujitsu's product - it is annoying to have to scan and rescan to get all of your pages properly scanned it and then use software to merge them together.Of course the advantage of a vertical scanner is the small footprint that rests on your desk. However, that is less valuable to me than getting all the pages scanned in correctly.I have owned this unit for only a few months so it cannot be any worn out component that is causing my problems. It may be that the newer Fujitsu scanner for the PC (S500) and not the MAC is actually better with multiple page handling but I do not know that for sure. Thus, if you are scanning one page at a time, this scanner will work well for you. If you are having to scan multiple pages all the time like I do, I would look at the flat bed scanners with auto document feed (ADF) capability instead.

Awesome! so simple & easy, very cute too
I don't usually write reviews, but LOVE this little gizmo. It really is plug & play - you just push one button to scan a stack of stuff, which saves it automatically. I've got through 4 file boxes of old files, and love love love having everything digitized instead. So much better! It's also very small and cute - the sheet feeder doubles as the ON/OFF button, so when you open it, it turns on. Sometimes the paper jams, but these are easy to fix/amend. It just opens up and you move the papers out and resume. The software shows you what the last scan was, so you know where it left off. That's about it. It's awesome.

Better than expected scanner
I own a couple of businesses that require me to travel. I bought a scanner for each of the administrator offices and they scan basically everything, including expenses and reports. I receive reports daily on excel and on each expense there is a hyperlink to the file showing the actual receipt! No more auditing expenses each visit.I'm trying a mac software to go along with the scansnap. It's called DocumentWallet and ReceiptWallet, I'm still in the trial mode, so far it's just like iPhoto, except instead of pics, it's all pdf. Dunno If I'll buy the software.
