Why sugar as a the 2nd ingredient on all of their dog treats?

Because we do not use glycerin or artificial preservatives in this product, we have chosen to use evaporated cane syrup in small quantities both to help keep our treats soft and pliable and for its use as a natural preservative. Are the pieces of jerky relatively easy to break into smaller pieces for a small-breed dog?

Our little 16lb dog only likes the pork jerky so I can only speak on that. The pork is a little dry but fairly easy to either break or cut into bite size pieces approximately the size of littles beggn' strips. I hope this helps.
