You can customize this (mounted on a Hydros Pro)
I saw another reviewer (Robert M) who did a similar install - I wanted to offer mine:Up front: I started with the multi-mount ($22) accessory that is meant to go with the Hydros Pro (but I assume you could do something similar with whatever BC you have)1. ScubaPro Premium Retractor: I unscrewed the 4x screws that kept the overall housing together (be careful)1a. Take out the plastic "Stop Button", (I had no use for this feature) leaving you with perfectly aligned holes.2. I took out the bolt snap that came with it (this drastically reduces the overall size of the retractor)...immediately re-install the bolts to keep everything tight.3. I purchsed the same bolts (but longer) from Home Depot (Stainless)4. I hack-sawed about 1/8" from the purchased tipped screw (to keep the depth and prevent any sharp edges)5. I kept the plastic washer, and mounted the retractor, using the "created holes" from the vacant "stop button" and into the "multi-mount".--- --- ---6. I then unscrewed the existing 2x phillips head black screws from the other side, and replaced them with 2x eyelet screws (also from Home depot (stainless), same pattern...7. I fished a zip-tie through these 2x eyelets, arount the multi-mount, and secured everything.Permanent mount, streamlined, and clean! You may notice I replaced the split ring with a black solid ring...this is just my OCD, and not needed. By all means, have at it!I hope this helps!

Retract lock is a PITA and cable cover fell apart
This scubapro gear keeper gets unwarranted praise. On the 5th dive the plastic that covers the cable started tearing apart. See picture. This causes the retract mechanism to bind and block. Total fail. I cannot believe this group of pro put this out there and they're testing did not reveal this clear design flaw. Then, the little button that locks the gear retract open or closed is constantly locking open or locking closed on its own. So you go to pull out your camera or flashlight or whatever you have it attached to and it's locked closed all on its own preventing you from pulling your device out. You have to reach up fiddle with the button to unlock it, stretch your arm out to light your subject or film your subject, and then it often locks again so your device is just hanging there, not retracting. I'm going to tape mine permanently shut so it doesn't lock open or closed.I am normally a fan of scuba pro products but this one is a complete fail. It's easily twice the price of other devices. I strongly recommend you do not invest the money on this POS. Just buy some cheap ones and replace them every couple of years.

Better than this
I think from scuba pro I expect better. I think the spring should be tighter so the cable doesn’t just hang out if you don’t have it locked. And the little lock button is easy to get unlocked. If the cable had a tighter spring, I think it would be better. I still use it because these things are pricey.

Best retractor on the market
Lasts longer than other brands I have. I have yet to break one of these. It's more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Hefty performance
Secured a G2C dive computer to my BCD shoulder strap D-ring. Every time I checked depth/air/etc. it secured the G2C back into position and held it right in place. Quality!

Very well built and sturdy
I have purchased this to replace a retractor that broke after 3 dive trips. This is a much heavier and well built retractor.

Piece of crap- DO NOT BUY
I am a dive professional. I bought this based on scuba pro being a brand i believed in. When it arrived it looked to be high quality. It lasted a total of 2 dives. It actually failed during a dive. All it was holding was my GoPro Camera. I wrote Scuba Pro (as advised per Amazon) and was told by scuba pro to contact Amazon. I wasted my money and my time. I have also lost a ton of faith in the scuba pro brand and their customer service.Ps I went to the scuba pro went site and for this item the reviews are poor as well. I wish I had know beforehand

Large than I imagined
This scubapro retractor is made of high quality components and uses a spring coil as the retractor mechanism. I modified mine to use on my scubapro hydros pro.... The metal hardware it came with were high quality as well. *NOTE* The orginal locking/unlocking slide button did get in the way and seemed to be more of a hassle for it would lock/unlock on it's own... so I just removed it.
