Not all of us are gifted Do It Yourself'ers and for this reason MARSHALLTOWN The Premier Line DP8 8-Inch by 8-Inch Drywall Repair Patch Kit's are the BOMB BIGGITY! I have cerebral palsy so taking the time to cut plaster or other filler to size use tape and other professional gear to patch a hole in drywall let's face it just ain't happening. Spending $300.00 to have a "Professional" Drywall mechanic fix a few holes in my drywall well that's just plain straight up crazy! My solution; using MARSHALLTOWN The Premier Line DP8 8-Inch by 8-Inch Drywall Repair Patch Kit's to patch the walls. Remove unstable drywall till you reach solid good drywall. Next cut the drwaywall patch to an inch wider than the size of the target stable drywall hole. Apply drywall mud as needed to cover the patch and blend the repair into the surrounding dry wall. Repeat dry wall mud applications 3 times to insure good finish since drywall mud shrinks as it dries. Wait a few days for the last application of mud to harden and sand smooth with a fine grit sandpaper. Prepare it for priming and painting and you are soon good as new and you did not waste $300.00 paying someone to do a job you can do yourself. We haven't tried this yet. I'm not handy. I ordered this product because I thought it would give me everything I needed to fix a hole in my wall (caused by my dog running into the wall!). It only gives you a piece of mesh. That's it. No plaster. No tool to spread the plaster. Exactly what is the definition of a "KIT"? I would assume it is more than one thing. Well, it isn't. It is just a piece of mesh. I'm giving this a 3 (and not a 1) because had I read the description ("8-Inch x 8-Inch, Drywall Repair Patch Kit, Self Adhesive Patches With Fiberglass Mesh To Eliminate The Need To Pre-Plaster, No Rust Aluminum Plate Provides Rigid Backing") I would have seen that it was only the wire patch. My mistake. But I wanted someone to read this so that they knew what they were getting. I assume it will work, but now I have to wait until my husband goes out and buys what is missing from this "KIT."

I had a three inch hole in the drywall where the garage door opener remote needed to be installed. The 8-inch by 8-inch was a very good size. It made this easy to work with but yet large enough to securely cover the hole. It came with a protective sheet which was easily removed. Beneath the protective sheet the patch was covered with an adhesive substance which adhered well to the drywall. With the patch now in place it was a simple matter to spread the spackling. After letting the spackling dry some light sanding was performed which was then followed with a second coat. A tad more light sanding and the job was done to perfection.The end results of using this are that it worked very well, it looks fine and it did the job for which it was intended. I highly recommend this repair patch.

So with a hole in the wall you've got to decide whether you are going to cut a piece of drywall to cover, or, is smaller try and patch it. This patch mesh works fine. However, keep in mind that unless you do something special you will be applying a very thin patch. The end effect, for most folks, will be superficial and unnoticible. It works, but don't lean on it if covering larger areas. For that you really should use a piece of drywall (assuming a stud is nearby to attach it to, otherwise you have to cut wider to use drywall).

Used this on a large hole I left on the wall after I accidentally hit it with the side of my knee. That part of the wall was oddly hallow for some reason and broke easily . Ordered one of these , I believe the patch has aluminum for strength . I bought some crack shot and covered it up decently well . It doesn't quite camouflage with the wall . But painting over that area will make it look a lot more natural .

I had a big hole to re-patch in the wall where my son kicked his foot through. This worked so easily! I don't have a lot of experience with home repairs but this couldn't have been easier if I would have called a handyman to do it. Perfect solution! I would definitely buy again!

Easy to apply, covered a large hole. A little spackle, a little sanding and paint and you don't even know the whole was there. Very simple even for a non-professional do-it-yourselfer

When I bought the repair 'kit' I thought it would've have a bit more than just the patch it it.... why call it a 'kit' with one item?
