I am in awe of Danny Gregory, he is my new hero !
I have quite recently discovered Danny Gregory and since, have been lapping up his art, his blog and his books. I love the way he draws and paints and it's all completely recognisable and yet not quite perfect. It has inspired me to draw wobbly lines and not quite perfect things generally and allow them to be ok, when in the past I have not done so because I thought it was 'rubbish'. Also I love his humour, his downtoearthness and the way he makes every day things sacred somehow in his documenting of them. Specifically this book is very moving and there is a journey through his grief after the passing of his wife. I cannot big up Danny Gregory enough :)

For anyone who's loved and lost
This is Danny Gregory doing what he does best, illustrating his life in words and pictures. This volume is about his beloved wife Patti, and about his mourning of her accidental death. But it's not remotely maudlin. If you can get to page 40 without tears then you're a better woman than me, but while the book is about grieving its also about hope, and about finding life again after such a devastating loss. In the end the book is as much a celebration of Patti's life as it a memoir of the months following her death. It's beautifully written and wonderfully Illustrated with vibrant sketches in Danny Gregory's inimitable style. I guarantee you won't read a better book about love and loss this year.

Absolutely beautiful. The illustrations were done so well I almost felt like I was walking through the story with Danny. Truly tragic story but I could feel his love for his wife and son in every page and it was truly humbling.
