Durable, visually appealing, and my daughter LOVES it!!
The package is beautiful and the items are extremely cute!! They are sturdy and not cheap plastic like some comparable sets. The wood is smooth and has no splinters which Ive found is a common issue with wooden toys. My daughter likes to mimic me and her big sister when we clean lol. I'm hoping she will eventually clean up her own playroom lol! The set is actually that great where it can be used to clean up for real. You can't clean any large area of course with the little mop lol but its good enough for a toddler to use and learn how to clean up their play area with.My only issue is that I wish it had something I could use to stick the base to the floor or mount it somewhere because my daughter loves to pick up the base and beat the floor with it (the base has a bit of weight which makes it very durable which is a curse and blessing in this case lol) .... and occasionally our cat lol. I had to take the base away for safety reasons and I bought a plastic toy box where she can store them but if the base was stuck to the floor with adhesive or if it could just have a bracket attachment so it could be mounted along the wall I think that would be awesome. I plan to try and find some strong adhesive (that wont damage my wood floor) that I can put on the bottom so I can allow her to use the base again.Overall, I think this is a great toy and I

I think she would snuggle with it in bed if I let her
When our daughter's 2-year birthday was coming up, we noticed that all she ever seemed to want to play with were our kitchen and outdoor brooms. Being full-sized, these were of course too unwieldy and awkward, and she would end up knocking things off of counters or banging them into walls. I wanted to find her some small toy version to replace them. We planned to buy them for her birthday, and I found this set, hoping she would find it acceptable.Um, instead it has pretty much been the holy grail of toys for her. She won't let go of what she calls her beloved "sweeper" - we practically have to rip it from her hands and hide it from her in the morning to get her out the door, to much tears and flailing of limbs. The broom is the biggest hit out of them all, but she uses each of the cleaning toys at times. I have her on video manically chanting "sweeper and mop!!" while pounding them both into the floor in mimicry of sweeping and mopping. She climbs up on the couch with "sweeper" to watch cartoons. She tries to hold on to it while eating dinner (nice try, kid, but no dice). She runs away from us when it's bedtime, maybe partially because she doesn't want to go to bed, but probably 90% because she can't bring the dang broom into her crib with her.I am completely stumped as to why this tiny version of cleaning implements brings her so much joy, but I've stopped questioning it and have begun accepting the fact that I'm saying things to my daughter like "only 5 more minutes of sweeping the floor, honey," and "if you don't listen to Mommy, you'll have to put 'sweeper' away."The handles are made of real wood and are quite sturdy, the storage stand is well-crafted and has little notches to hang the brooms/mops from (and also doubles as a pretend microphone stand for a toddler), and the bristles are soft and sturdy. My husband actually used the broom and dustpan to clean our entryway when he couldn't find our "real" broom one night before company was coming over. The only downside was watching the disappointed face of her grandmother when our daughter completely ignored grandma's present of a little dollhouse in favor of waving her broom all over the place. Sorry, grandma! :-/

My daughter always loved to help me clean and would try and sweep ...
I got this Melissa and Doug cleaning set for my daughters Second birthday. My daughter always loved to help me clean and would try and sweep with my broom which wouldn't work out to well. Now that we have this set she can sweep right along side of me.Her favorite part to this set is the mop. Unfortunately one night I wasn't paying full attention when she was in the bathroom and she decided to use the toilet water to wash the floor. It made me think of that bleach commercial. The stand is very easy to put together. The connecting pole easily screws into the base. Each cleaning tool has a string that hangs perfectly off of the stand. The strings are also different colors so the kids know they belong on different posts. The bristles on the broom and the dust pan brush are very soft. The duster is also soft and it made of a microfiber like material. The overall design of this is great and VERy toddler proof. All of Melissa and Doug's toys are just so well made and we love everything they put out. After going over friends houses and seeing this set and seeing how well all the kids would take to it I knew this would make the most perfect gift. If you are unsure of what to get a toddler for a gift, you cannot go wrong with this set.

Best kid cleaning set
My two year old is crazy about brooms and anything similar. After he took our broom and dustpan hostage I knew we'd need to find a set for him.All the kids cleaning sets for out there are in the same price range. Not all are the same quality. I needed something to withstand not only a two year old play style (in a concrete basement play room) but four other siblings as well. Melissa & Doug haven't steered us wrong yet and knocked it out of the park with this set. It's perfect size for both my two and four year old. It has a place to store them. This was a huge deal for me. We have another set that is plastic and it's all over the place. He loves putting them in their spots, easy cleanup! It's super solid wood. These have been dropped and banged around with no damage noted. The bristles are so soft on the broom. The duster and mop are gentle as well. Great choice of materials used for these. These are great for pretend play with all ages. They go perfectly with our kitchen and baby doll/house area. One of the best things we've bought in a while for quality and always being played with!
