Not just about weight loss; this is a total health-changer!
I got the book while participating in Dr. C's 28 day challenge. The book contains all the information necessary to complete the program on your own at any time. The book is very informative, explaining both the program, the health benefits, & the reasons why this works in an easy to follow and understand manner. And it really works! Less than 2 weeks into the progran, I am down 4 lbs, and the sometimes crushing daily fatigue I have experienced for decades is gone! I am also sleeping better. And my muscle & joint pain is greatly reduced. Being able to wake in in the morning and feel rested, and not need to nap 2 to 3 times a day, just to make it to bedtime is something I never thought I'd be able to do again. I have actually had days where I wake before my alarm! The book is very well laid out. It has menus, recipes & shopping lists making this an organized and easy to follow program that can fit into the busiest schedule. This is not just about weight loss. This is about restoring your health & improving your quality of life.

It works, if you can stick to it for month
Update: The pros: the book is well written and the information seems to make sense; I did lose 4 lbs in 4 weeks, which is pretty good for meThen I took 2 weeks off, and did another 2 weeks, losing another 2 lbs.The reason I changed my rating to 5 stars is that during Thanksgiving and Christmas, I ate a lot, but did not gain more than a lb, which to me, was amazing.I have stopped the diet for 2 months now and have not gained the weight back, which totally shocked me.No, it's not super easy (bec you do get bored drinking just shakes for a month), but it's doable.I can't believe it actually does what it promises to do--change your metabolism. If you look at the research, everyone assumes your "set point" weight is set, and cannot be changed, or they tell you to do crap like lift weights and eat protein. When I was following traditional advice I was actually gaining weight (turns out whey protein makes you gain weight, as he says in the book)the Cons:In the book, he says to eat 20 grams of protein (the servings of his shakes), 3 times a day, but people of different weights need more protein. Then, somewhere else in the book, he says a 140 lb woman should eat 90 grams of protein. He should have indicated a more exact amount based on weight from the beginning. I began feeling really "hangry" after a week and realized that I was not getting enough protein. This issue was resolved after I upped my protein and started taking amino 23 supplement from Purium, which helped with hunger.I don't know what "expense" people are complaining about. A month's supply of what you need is only $120 from his website. As far as weight loss, I did lose 4 lbs by the end of the month (and I kind of cheated the last week), but I think that's a good amount. I went off of it for 2 weeks, as he suggests, now I will try to do another month to try to lose more, so I do think the diet works.

Changing your Metabolism is a Myth but...
First...the recipes in this book are simple, easy and delicious. I love that you can have a full dinner with healthy unlimited snacks in-between. The two shakes for breakfast and lunch, in my opinion is a bit tough. I like to actually eat my breakfast, not drink it. A shake for lunch, though - no problem! I'm also not sure that it has been proven that cutting caffeine is good for your liver - it's been discovered that a small amount of caffeine can actually help with diabetes and weight loss. Is having one cup of caffeinated tea or coffee really going to make a difference? I did enjoy reading this book and how your liver has such a huge job...so show it some love - absolutely! I believe this book has really good information in it that is easy to understand. Can you help your liver? Of course you can! Drink lots of water, cut out the bad stuff, eat your veggies, get some exercise and get some zzzzzz's...everything will probably start working better!UPDATE: I just had to write a quick update...I woke up this morning and oddly...my sweatpants were looser on me and my stomach was definitely flatter...I don't believe in using scales but I can tell that I've lost some weight!! I would guess it's about 1.5 pounds. This may not sound like much but for me this is huge because I have had no success with anything I've tried. I have only been loosely following this "diet" because I don't believe in diets per se. I was having two shakes (but they were whey protein because that's all I had) and I was trying to eat my veggies and have a sensible dinner. I have to admit though, I had several slip-ups (piece of dark chocolate here and there and I had two glasses of white wine with dinner during the past week) Regardless, I have still lost weight. I'm stunned and absolutely thrilled!!!!Needless to say, I'm going to read the book again and I have ordered the pea protein powder, carob powder, and the green banana flour so that this time I can follow the plan exactly. I'm starting fully on Monday and I can't wait to see my results after 7 days. I also did cut out some caffeine and boy oh boy can I tell how it's affecting me (withdrawal headaches are pretty bad)...so maybe caffeine is NOT such a great thing after all. I'm going to give it a try and cut it out of my diet all together...I think I have FINALLY found something that works - apparently my liver IS really responding - so excited!!! Thank you Dr. Christianson!! (btw: thanks to the video reviewer who said that she doesn't do diets and that she figured she could do anything for 7 days: this review is what really prompted me to buy this book b/c I felt the same way)
