Great light & fan. Instructions might be difficult for some.
Great price. Easy to replace my existing broken exhaust fan from attic side of ceiling. Used triple switch to wire lights and fan individually. Wiring instructions are vague on how exhaust fan thermostat works so separating them might be difficult for those unfamiliar with electrical. So, if you can't figure it out, you probably shouldn't be fooling with wiring anyway. Also, the plastic damper door on exhaust is very flimsy, mine broke when I tried to put it back together after it fell out while in the attic with low light. I should have taken my time to reinstall door because I had to modify the broken door to fit upside down which took a couple of hours. The lights and fan work great once installed correctly. The unit I bought was used/new/open and slightly bent, but easy to straighten. Happy with outcome.

very good product.
The light fixture was easy to install, looks great in the ceiling and works very well. I like it. It really puts out a lot of light and heat.

NOT the same as the old one, but a good unit
Despite what many here have claimed this product is not the same unit as the older versions. You can not simply switch fans, for example. The old units had two screws holding the blower unit in place, one on the top of the housing and one on the side beneath the blower itself. The new one has them both on the side, meaning you can not take the new one out and install it into your old fixture. Orientation of the external components has changed as well, the vent discharge chute faces a different direction and the electrical hookup is in a different location. If your wiring doesn't have a lot of slack, or if rigid vent pipe was used you will have to replace the wiring or the vent pipe, or both. Additionally, while the same approximate width, the new unit is well over an inch longer than the older units, requiring additional cutting of the ceiling if the unit is replacing an old one. That being said, the unit works as described. Installation, while not easy, is not overly difficult. If you have access to the space above the room where the unit is being installed you can complete a new installation with no need for drywall or plaster repair. The fan is fairly quiet once installed, about what I'd expect from a unit in this price range. It can be wired in numerous ways to give complete control over the individual lights and the fan, and by installing different bulbs you can use it as a light, a heater, or both. Two things to note:1. There is no template provided, you will have to make your own to more easily facilitate marking the ceiling where you need to cut. I recommend drilling a small hole in the ceiling (from the attic above), centered between the joists, then centering your own template on that mark.2. The instructions claim there is a protective cover to be used when plastering around the unit, this cover is supposedly marked on the box and instructions are supposedly on the box as well. Neither existed. It is possible they were an extra piece of packaging, the unit I received was previously opened so I can't say with certainty that I received everything that was supposed to be in the box.

Needs an electrician (like a real one)
All the people complaining that it burns out, well there’s many ways to set up the lights and heater, get an electrician to do it! My electrician said that only one of the sockets is set up for heat, the other is for a light. Do not put heat in both or it will give you problems is my guess. It’s been working for months here. The heat is not too warm, but better than nothing. Seriously get an electrician to install it if you want it to work.

Perfect for starter homes
These lights are not at all whisper quiet- but they work and look good, which is perfect for our starter home. We're military so we can't invest too much for a house that we will probably have to move out of after a few years. It took my husband a weekend to install them, but they are so worth it.I honestly could not believe Amazon sells these kits for this price. The big box stores easily sold them for twice the price.I do take time and effort to write my reviews. If this helped you in any way, please click “YES” on the bottom. Thank you.

It does what I want
I had installed similar heat lamp/vents in the bathrooms of my first and third house. I am now in my fourth and last house. My next stop is a home. As suggested by other reviewers, the install manual is garbage. Luckily, I didn't need it. For those who complain about the instructions for the wiring, perhaps you should leave it to a professional. Forget the illustrations given in the manual, the best schematic can be found on a foil label inside the housing. Although the device is advertised on the box as a "TWO BULB HEATER WITH VENTILATION 70 CFM FAN", which suggest to me that it takes two IF heat lamp bulbs, the schematic reveals that one socket is intended to accept a light bulb and the middle socket is where the 250 W IR heat lamp is to be placed. There is no direct mention of this in the install manual, but it can be inferred from figure 6. The schematic also reveals that there are two "thermostats"; one turns on the fan automatically when a specific temperature is reached in the event that the heat is turned on without the fan and the other will turn off the heat lamp at a specified temperature. The manual says "Install BR40 or R40-size 250W infrared bulb(s)."My biggest issue with the design or instructions as it says "... check if bottom of housing is flush with finished ceiling." The bottom of the housing has a small flange or lip which does not extend into the corners. Therefore, the whole in the ceiling must be larger than the housing allowing dust and insects to enter the room from the attic or crawl space through the gaps at the corners. Also, an R40 bulbs protrudes well beyond the grille, which is unsightly.
