Poignant and powerful.
This is a beautifully written allegory about alcoholism. No judgement, no stigma - just simple truth.

Excellent Book about Addiction!
This book is 110% accurate. If you are looking for a "Disney-fied" happy story about what alcoholism or addiction is, you have zero clue about the issue. This book is a very succinct story about addiction and is suitable for people of all ages. If you are looking for a book to describe addiction to children, this is a perfect book but will require some additional explanation on the adult's part.Very highly recommended.

The Brown Bottle
The Brown Bottle is about a caterpillar who finds a shiny brown bottle. When he gets inside the bottle he feels safe and happy and likes it so well, he stays. For anyone who wants to understand alcoholism or "a drinking problem" or "self-medication" clearly, this little allegory will give you more understanding. The book shows the process from that first taste to the final end of those who cannot conquer this disease - death. I ordered it for my preschool, however, I am not using the text to teach about the dangers of drinking alcohol, but the pictures and giving a parphrase. For older children this is an excellent quick read.

Hitting the Bottle ....
Written in a children's book format, this book looks like it leads to a happy ending. Unfortunately, alcoholism doesn't always lead to a happy ending. In a detox, alcoholics are often under the influence of many drugs to quell their withdrawal symptoms. This easy-to-read and easy-to-get message is the perfect format for many new in recovery. It is also a perfect tool for helping a non-alcoholic understand the lies that the disease of addiction will tell its prey.It has a great message and is written in a very likable and engaging way.

Profound
This tiny book has a profound impact on many who read it. I purchased it after hearing the testimony of an AA member at a speaker meeting. She said she credits it for taking the first step to get sober. I keep it in my living room and read it often to help me cope with a family member suffering from the disease of addiction.

Excellent aid in discussing alcoholism with children of any age.
This book is an excellent way to start the conversation about alcoholism. Our children are old enough to read well on their own so we had them read it and we discussed if afterward. The book is short enough to keep a you childs attention, yet so well written that as an adult I really enjoyed reading it on my own.

An accurate, but incredibly bleak book about alcoholism. I definitely won't be sharing this with my daughter for whom it was intended.
