Vivitar 5000 AF Slide Projector

came fast, boxed great, got to me safe. works great

THE VIVITAR 5000 ARRIVED WITH THE INNER, MANUFACTURERS BOX, UNPROTECTEDFROM THE OUTER SHIPPING CARTON. BOTH CARTONS WERE INTACT; HOWEVER, IASSUME IT WAS DROPPED VERY HARD FROM A CONSIDERABLE HIGHT...THREE OFTHE FOUR LENS IN THE PROJECTOR WERE KNOCKED OUT OF THEIR BRACKETS ANDLOOSE IN THE VIVITAR ASSEMBLY RENDERING THE PROJECTOR COMPLETELYINOPERATIVE. CONTACTING THE SHIPPER BROUGHT IMMEDIATE STATEMENT THAT ITWOULD BE PICKED UP AT MY HOME ASAP BY UPS FOR RETURN AND THE SENDING OFA NEW UNIT. I HOPE THEY PACK IT MORE CAREFULLY. THE CONTACT PERSONSAID IT WAS CAREFULLY PACKED. I'M SURE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BUTIN REALITY IT WAS NOT!I HAVE HEARD THAT BOTH FEDEX AND UPS IN THEIR CONVEYOR BELT SORTINGHAVE TRANSITIONS WITH DROPS OF 2 FEET OR MORE IN THE PROCESS. THIS REPORTIS SECOND HAND BUT ONE COMPANY [MAKING HIGH FREQUENCY AMATEUR BANDLINEAR AMPLIFIERS] SAID 40% OF THEIR SHIPPING OF AMPLIFIERS WEREARRIVING SEVERELY DAMAGED THAT THEY HAVE RESORTED TO PUTTING THEIRAMPLIFIER CARTONS ON PALLETS FOR MORE GENTLE HANDLING BY THE FREIGHTCOMPANYS.KENNETH B. After owning a projector since 1950 and recently going through 25 trays of slides within 2 years IT QUIT BEYOND REPAIR!!That was to make 50th Birthday videos and albums for each of our three children who are now around 60 years old!We did not think to go on Amazon to replace something that old. Fortunately, I just thought I would try.VERY FORTUNATELY pcgould had put her Mother's Vivitar 5000 Slide projector on Amazon. Our communication with Patricia was GREAT. She even offered to replace the lamp if it burned out in a short time.We received the Projector in a short time and in excellent condition.

Since old-fashioned slides seem to be going the way of the dinosaur, it isn't so easy to find a satisfactory slide projector at a reasonable price. This projector was inexpensive and we have found it to be adequate for our needs. I would not hesitate to recommend it to the average user. However, it is true that it has some problems that might annoy a more discerning user. (1) I have some old slides whose quality is not so great and sometimes they drive the autofocus mechanism insane---i.e., the projector keeps zooming in and out forever, trying to find the (nonexistent) perfect setting. We have not been able to figure out how to disable the autofocus. (2) Some of my old slides are physically too thick to fit into the carousel (this might not be a problem for a linear instead of a circular carousel, but I haven't tried that). (3) The manual that was included did not exactly match the model we had, so we wasted time figuring out how to operate the machine. (4) If you stop a show and remove the carousel to adjust a slide, there does not seem to be any easy way to make sure that you restore the carousel to exactly the same position (you might have to flip backwards or forwards a few slides to find your place). (5) The "remote" is not a true wireless remote but is attached by a cord. Overall, though, these are minor annoyances and we still feel that it was a good buy.

The projector kept getting jammed and not advancing the slides. The slides were bent when I was able to get them out. Returning for a refund.

El proyector está muy dañado exteriormente, la lente está suelta y no gira, hay que ubicarla manualmente, la tapa del cable del control remoto no cierra y el sistema automático de cambio der diapositivas funciona con dificultad.... No deberían vender a este precio un producto en estas condiciones, muy malo para Amazon!!!

Looking for the right slide projector for my elderly dad was like a needle in the haystack ~ found this on Amazon and knew this was it !! Like news condition, doesn’t even look like it was used . Time was of the essence due to wanting to surprise him for Thanksgiving week , it came in 2 days , then when it did arrive ( this am ) I held my breath that it was going to be the ‘right’ one !! Tears of joy fell as I watched old slide I jhavent seen for 40 years . Can hardly wait to see my dads reaction; ). Thank you from the bottom of my heart ! It’s PERFECT

A bit pricey but works fantastic to bring to life old memories in a vibrant way which others can easily share in. Very easy to use and produces great images.
