Product did not work when used with my HP Pavilion dv7. Fitment it correct but it appears to cause some sort of short or power fault when it is plugged in to either HDD1 or HDD2 slot (whether or not a hard drive is connected to the other end). Machine will not power on when it is plugged in. I can start the machine without it just fine and if I plug this cable into the machine while it is running, it immediately powers off.EDIT: Removed my battery cover to discover that I own a dv7-7121nr. If this is the reason that it does not work, that is frustrating. Make sure to double check your model number before purchasing. Leaving review at 2 stars due to inconvenience.

I was so happy to finally add a second hard drive to my laptop, on top of my SSD I needed more storage and it took me... a couple years to buy this dang thing... I was also very happy to see it was PLENTY long enough to reach the far secondary hard-drive, for a second I became nervous it was a Short replacement for the near by hard drive.... it feels so good to no longer be running out of space :-D

I used this to add a 2nd hard drive to a HP Pavillion DV7. The laptop came with a standard drive and space for a 2nd drive which didnt come with it (it did come with the mounting bracket though). I move the old hdd to the 2nd spot and installed a new ssd as the boot drive. This cable was the perfect fit and length to add the 2nd drive to the motherboard.

This worked great. The first time I plugged in the new drive it seamed not to register. I have to say the computer had some other issues going on at the time courtesy of the OS. When I removed the second drive and put it back a while later after I had the OS stable it worked fine.

This nearly melted when I plugged it into my hard drive. The cord and the port it plugs into inside my laptop got very hot very fast. Probably my fault as this cord is apparently not for the model of laptop I have, but it's not made clear that this will not work with dv7t-7000 model. I assume there is an issue with the voltage.Wasnt worth the trouble to send it back at this price, so I just didn't.

Make sure that you use this cable only on DV7 HP laptops. It really won't work on others even though it physically fits.

I have installed my second harddrive and it is working fine.

Great OEM fit. Works well, fit and finish as good as original. Used in my HP Pavilion dv7 laptop for the secondary hard drive slot (did not come with the cable or a hard drive in the 2nd slot) Length fit perfectly.
