This is gold for my dry skin!
I can't live without this stuff! Dealing with eczema almost all my life, it's a struggle to find just the right moisturizer that isn't packed with harmful ingredients. One day my sister decided to order this shea butter and she let me try it. The texture took a little while getting used to, keep in mind it is raw after all. It is a little grainy or chunky at first but once I rub it in my hands it smooths out and I apply it to the rest of my body. This stuff is so moisturizing and I have chronically dry skin. I also like to add different essential oils like frankincense, rosemary, lemongrass, lavender, etc to give it a nice scent as well as reap the wonderful benefits from each oil. One time when I ran out of this, I didn't feel like having to go through ordering it again since I saw another raw shea butter product at a local health food store. That one didn't compare; it even irritated my skin a little. I highly recommend this product.

Great product - graininess is a common non-serious issue and easily remedied
Second time buying this one. First one was great on opening. Second time it arrived grainy, but this was easily fixed. Some people have given low star ratings for this reason, and if you are reading reviews I suggest you read this first before letting those sway your decision. If you are new to the world of using natural butters, this can sometimes happen (it's just the nature of these substances), but there is a solution -Heat over the stove in a glass container partway submerged in water. Heat slowly to about 60-70 degrees Celsius and hold there for about 10-20 minutes. Place in the freezer to cool quickly.Heating followed by slow cooling can sometimes make butters grainy. My guess is that this can easy happen during transport. Graininess does not mean the product is bad or will not work properly. Crystallization is result of the various fatty acids melting and cooling at different temperatures, causing them to separate from each other. Cooling quickly after being heating to liquid form fixes this.

Nice product - Multiple uses
I've never used raw shea butter before, but I was looking for an intense moisturizer/cream for multiple reasons.I have very fair skin, and when I shave, I'm left with "strawberry legs". Basically red/darkened hair follicles. I've tried many different things, but one of the main factors is making sure you moisturize your skin properly after. So after searching around for a while, I came to this. The jar I received is visually pleasing. It's in a nice, glass jar and simple packaging. The shea butter was not grainy (which I read can happen sometimes) and was hard, yet soft enough to scrape out.I recommend a tool to get the product out as it's a little too hard to scoop with fingers. I happen to use a small plastic paint spatula. If you're not mixing it with anything, you'll definitely want to work it and warm it up with your hands first. I found that I really need to work it into the skin when I apply it, as its feel very waxy. It's kind of an aggressive application. It has a scent. Not necessarily one put into it, but just the natural scent of the shea butter, which is slightly stronger than I expected. It doesn't last long and isn't offensive, but something to keep in mind.I always use it at night, as it does leave kind of a strong, almost greasy, feeling on the skin. I wouldn't compare it to the normal greasy, oily residue that a lot of other lotions have, but its definitely heavy.I've also noticed that it leaves almost a layer on your skin. Like, if I were to get in the shower a couple of hours after, I would be able to tell there was something on my legs.I haven't seen any results regarding my legs, but it does moisturize. Just wish it was more of the miracle, overall fix.So far, I'm still testing it out. But as far as a cure-all, I wouldn't consider it that. I really liked when I melted it and mixed it with another lotion I have and plan on using it as an overnight foot mask. It's a good product to keep around for any time you need an extra "oomph" in any moisturizer you have; face or body.

I’m pleased with the results that I’m seeing even after using it 1 week. I’ve been applying it to a very “particular” dry spot on the side of my heel and I see improvement in skin softness. In addition, I ran out of my face cream (moisturizer) and been applying it on my face in the evenings and wake up with a dewy look on my face. I’m very content with the product! I know that it is a little hard to soften the grainy, but I’ve noticed that when II rub the product my hands it melts “quickly” making it easy to rub all over my body and face. This is a great product and I’m very pleased to have purchased it!

Anyway I am happy with this product
I read everything I could find before ordering this Shea Butter because I had read that just becaouse it says it is 100% this or that does not mean it is or is prepared correctly. This one is accepted by the American Shea Butter Institute. Being accepted by the ASBI was one of the most important things I read to look for. Anyway I am happy with this product. Works well on its own or mixed with something. My home is cold so the Shea Butter is not spreading consistency (in the summer it is hot so it will probably be a spreading consistency). I put some Shea Butter in a bowl and mix in just a few drops of Coconut Oil to a smooth consistency, works great. Has really helped my dry skin.
