Install is not for novices for a 2004 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0
The Good:They look cool. A definite upgrade from the fogged out original fixtures. For me, the halos are very bright, if not brighter than the center halogen. Do they work as well as the head lights in my BMW 5 series? Well no, but I didn't expect them to.Amazon is by far the best price for these head lights and the tail lights.I didn't have the downward beam trajectory that others complain about and I didn't have to make any adjustments. They are only slightly pointed down, but not a problem for me.Just OK:The halogens that come with the unit are bargain basement. Yes they work, but I upgraded to the Sylvania Silverstar 9007 for about $33. I also switched out the yellow 3157NA for Sylvanias as well. Considering the difficulty getting the fixtures installed, I wanted reliable bulbs, so I wouldn't have to go back in for a while.Once I got the wiring and the LED socket figured out (see below), they actually slid it nicely and snapped in with the same metal sliders the original fixtures used. The side LED lights are dim compared to the halos. You don't even notice them at first glance when all the lights are on.There is about a 3/4β gap between the top of the fixture and the hood. I could lay down some weather stripping if it really starts to bother me.There are a few places you can stick the LED adapter/converter, but it really would be more ideal if this was built into or onto the unit somehow so you didn't have to mess with it.The Bad:Accessing the center halogen is a pain. I learned this when I upgraded the bulbs. There is a ring that you spin to lock the bulb into place, but the ring sits inside of another fixed ring. There is about 5mm of space between the 2 rings, so you can't really use your fingers to loosen the inner one. I had to force it to spin by engaging an edge with a flathead screwdriver. What to do with the red and black wires? There is a power adapter/converter black box with 2 long red and black wires coming out of it. With no instructions (see below), I guessed that the wires needed to be spliced inline with the 2 wires that powered the turn signal light socket. I used butt splices with a good effect. No instructions β not in the box or on the Anzo website or on Youtube. Ridiculous. You use the original power plug and socket to power the halos and side LEDs. There is a tab that slides into the socket that comes from within the fixture. Then you insert the socket/tab combo into the hole and twist to secure it. Standard for these fixtures, but the issue was when I twisted it to lock it, the plug/socket combo was directed straight downward, past the bottom edge of the fixture. The result was the 3 pins that slide into the housing for the fixture would not line up, they were directed too high. The solution: I got rid of the power plug. The socket had 2 pins. I figured out which one was red and which one was black by looking how the wire coursed through each part of this connection. I soldered the red and black wires directly to the socket and then supported the whole thing with a piece of heat shrink. Getting rid of the plug gave me enough clearance to finally slide the fixture into the housing. FYI, the βredβ wire coming out of the truck was actually brown. The black one was still black. The other solution would be to cut a groove in the metal housing on the truck to accommodate the plug/socket combo, but I didn't feel like doing this.

Confusing installation, no instructions provided
It took me a couple of days to figure out how to install these as there wasn't a diagram provided for installation. There are four things that need to be connected, two of which were pretty obvious as they fit the factory connections pretty well. However, the outermost LEDs on the side (the green/blue plug) need to plug into the outermost bulb holder, rather than the connector itself, which took me the better part of a day to realize. You just simply remove the bulb and plug that in directly to the piece that held the bulb. The inner-most plug, the tan one, doesn't snap in very well, so we ended up wrapping both parts of the connector in electrical tape to make sure that it didn't disconnect while driving. The middle bulb was the most confusing because the black and red wires need to be wired inline to the middle bulb, to the black and gray wires respectively for ground and power. We just used heat shrink tubing (two per side, four total) to run the black and red wires on each side inline to the middle bulb. I contacted the company, but was told a diagram/installation guide didn't exist yet for this model, so we had to figure it out ourselves. Hopefully this information helps anyone else who runs into issues.

Good fit
Fits 1998-2012 (3rd generation) Ford Ranger. Lights are not LED just the rings

These do adjust. Turn the black screws!
Lights look good but they really need to include instructions. It took us a bit to figure out how to adjust the aim.

Decent but flawed
Needs instructions, had a shop install them on my 07 and still need to adjust the aim. I'll probably choose a different brand if I trade to another truck

The posts that hold the light in place keep breaking. They are very thin and fragile.
