Absolute Digital Caliper, 0 to 12 in

A review is pretty much superfluous. This are the best calipers for the money in the world. This is a replacement for the exact same model I've used for nearly 30 years. I dropped them on a concrete floor and not for the first time. They valiantly tried to recover after I disassembled and repaired them, but alas it was just once too many abuses and they were done for. The new ones have had a few minor and well conceived design and construction improvements. At, age 63, this likely to be the last calipers I ever own.

For a fake, this product performed OK for over 2 years. It hurts to think of all the inaccurate parts I machined because of it. People that make fakes like this deserve to be thrown in jail. Amazon should be sued out of existence for allowing this garbage.After 2.5 years, it broke. I just took it apart and noticed substandard monkey-work involving hand sanded parts and tape; as you can see in the picture.

We bought this item for an industrial manufacturing setting, to be used with the data output port and cable to feed measurements into our system. On the smaller 6" caliper, the cover for the port came off with minimal effort, but it almost seems as if the port cover on this one was glued on. When we received the item, everything functions perfectly, but in order to take the cover off of the data output port, it was necessary to use a drill press to drill down through the cover, and then use a screwdriver and knife to pry it off. Perhaps a manufacturing defect.

Purchased for my boyfriend who is a quality inspector. Proper calibration and durability is a must, and these guys passed the test. They did come with a calibration certificate, all moving parts are smooth with no hitches. Very happy with the purchase.

We have used this caliper for last 2+ year. Now it is skipping the measurements. I am not sure whether this instrument has a specific usable life.I am going to check with Amazon.com, but McMaster Carr told me that if I would have purchased this from them, they would have replaced this instrument free of charge.

Good product. Accurate, substantial. I bought the 6 inch version several years ago, and have used it regularly. The 12 inch version is much beefier, as it has to be. Well built.

I've had a 6" Digimatic for a long time and use it constantly, so I finally replaced my old 12" Mitutoyo dial caliper with this model and I'm very happy with it. The price is quite reasonable for the quality.

I held off on my review to see how these inexpensive Mitutoyo calipers would hold up for a few months. Fine for the first four months, then it started acting up like it wasn’t counting. Changed battery, problem went away for one day, then it went haywire again. Changed battery a second time, and now it is hit or miss. I have lost all confidence in these calipers. Going back to B&Sharpe.
