Q: What are the CFM? and dimension for install

Bob, The CFM (from the manufacturer's web site) for the XD2 is 180 CFM (both fans operating). The unit installs through the rim joist of 16" on center or greater floor joists or through a wall. We have had very good results from our installation. Good luck! - John

Q: Does this "exchange" the heat or cold in the air like a hrv/erv?

Rachel is right. It only sucks fresh air in or blows stale air out. Fans are reversable so one can be bringing fresh air in while the other is exhausting. Does not separate inside and outside air like a heat exchanger.

depends on the location, installation and how loud your bathroom fan might be! mi productis under the house in the basement with insulation and it is much quieter than my standard bathroom fans.

This air exchanger does come with a vent cover and a removable screen to keep out insect and mice and other varmits
