Pretty, but Uneven
These three 40 mm buckles are very attractive, and they fit Chaoren ratchet belts the size of 1 3/8". I was going to get just one color, but I liked the black one enough that I decided to try to get all three. The marketing pictures are absolutely terrible when it comes to the color accuracy of these buckles. Attached are pictures of the three buckles. From left to right: black, light silver, and silver. And the same from top to bottom when it comes to the pictures with the navy belt strap. The black buckle is shiny, and in the light, it looks silverish because of its luster. But in the shade, it does, indeed, look almost black--kind of a dark coffee color or gun metal. The light silver is kind of a matte silver, maybe a bit darker. It's a good color if you need a silver buckle, but you want your metals to be a bit more lowkey. The silver buckle is the shiny silver most people would expect from a buckle for belts and handbags. It looks sharp, clean, and polished, but can be ostentatious and draw attention to the wrong place if it's the only shiny piece of your outfit. These buckles have five teeth. Chaoren does provide 40 mm buckles with seven teeth, which I find much easier to newly stamp onto a belt. But these buckles with five teeth are hit or miss. I've had to return a few of them after laboring hard to try to get them to attach onto a belt strap--even straps where the holes have already been stamped! And working with these buckles seems potentially dangerous with the spikey teeth and sharp metal corners of the backing plate. From experience, if it's taking a long time to attach the buckle, send it back for a new one. I had spent three hours trying to get one buckle on, and when I sent it back for a new one, the new buckle attached very easily. In other words, if you're having issues, it's not you, it's the buckle. The one advantage these buckles have over the one with seven teeth is that these buckles release the belt when you lift the buckle with your hand. The buckles with seven teeth have a small lever under the buckle you have to look for and push hard in order to release the belt. So it seems as though the buckle with five teeth are probably the newer model, since they have the more advanced release mechanism. The good thing about the different types of buckle is that even if you've already stamped the strap with a buckle with seven teeth, you can still use the one with five teeth, as they sit on different locations of the belt strap. All in all, the buckles look nice, and they give you versatility if you need to swap out different silverish buckles with different color straps. But it seems like luck of the draw if you get a good one that will fit onto the belt strap with ease, or if you get one where you'll have to work hard to attach it to the belt. They seem heavy duty, and if you can get them onto the belt, they'll give you versatility in color coordinating with other parts of your outfit.

Waist not want not
I bought it because I was curious about it. Surprised with its appearance despite being vinyl and inexpensive. I’m actually happy with it and use it all the time. I plan to buy actual leather versions now.

Just right!
Great solution for needing small adjustments. I hated the look of putting extra holes in my belts so I tried these ratcheting buckles. You need the correct belts with the teeth to use them with. Never going back!

Rachet belts
Very easy to adjust the tightness of the belt. A latch on the side loosens the belt or to take it offI highly recommend it

Good Quality Ratchet Buckel
It works easy with the belt and in some ways is built better than the standard buckle. It has a very nice finish, comfortable, easy to use and very versatile. The buckle is also easy to release.

Longer require belt length and TSA airport problems
First, this is an attractive buckle that looks and feels very substantial. The flip-open feature (vs. the small lever on other ratchet belts make for great ease of use. And, it is very easy to install on a belt with its simple but secure clamp mechanism. But, I ran into a couple of problems:1. This buckle's design needs about 2" more belt length because the ratchet mechanism is at the end that attaches to the belt. All of the lever-operated buckles I've owned put the mechanism at the open end. If you are starting with a new belt that you will cut to length, this is no problem. I was replacing a lever-style buckle that failed. I had originally trimmed the belt to have a little extra length, but this buckle was still too tight at the first click. I had to buy a new belt.2. Unlike my other ratchet belts, this buckle sets off TSA airport metal detectors. I'm always Pre, and I value not having to remove shoes, belts, jacket, etc. The first trip I went on with this buckle, it tripped the metal detector every time - two different airports. So, it probably wasn't an overly sensitive detector. This is a deal-breaker for me, as I don't want to have "travel" and "non-travel" belts.Nice buckle if those two problems don't affect your situation.
