Crosstour 4K 20MP Action Camera Webcam WiFi EIS Waterproof 40M with External Microphone and Remote Control

I have to admit my wife bought this and I had written it off before I used it because of the price.. HOW WRONG I WAS!! Wow this little thing is really great.. We bought this for our trip to Grand Cayman and I had a play on the flight over and its ok to use.. not having ever used anything other than a dash cam or a proper camera the controls don't seem to complicated so all was ok.. Its first trip underwater was good and the video and photo’s I captured were pretty clear and a Shark happily posed for a few shots which was great. . All in all I am extremely impressed, I do have issues though but I feel these may be more me than the fault of the camera and for the price don’t warrant heavily reducing the Star rating, so just worth being aware.. Firstly when recording its very hard to tell if the camera is recording or not when under water, you let the screen go black to save battery but the little blue light is very hard to see so I have snapped quite a few one or two second videos, You can switch to photo mode very easily however its much harder to get back to video mode as you have to scroll through the entire menu which is a real pain sometimes, my biggest issue is the clock does not keep time when you swap out the battery.. This is a real pain as you have to spend a good amount of time pressing buttons to get it set. I did struggle with the WiFi connection and the software but I was able to get it to work eventually of sorts, but preferred to use the direct USB connection to my laptop in the end. Finally by default the Image stabilising system is not active out of the box and you need to switch it on which I thought was a bit odd as why wouldn’t you want it. The accessory kit you get with the camera is very good although the only thing I would have preferred would be a handle as I only used the camera by hand for underwater photography and did not attach it to anything. Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  This was bought for a trip to the Galapagos islands. I was not prepared to spend large amounts on a Gopro and this came up in searches. Overall, for the money, I think the results were very good, particularly as I had no previous experience of cameras such as these. A fellow traveller had invested in the next model up with touch screen etc and had I known the quality would be so much better would have probably spent more however I was very satisified with what I got.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Great action cam, comes with loads of accessories and 2 batteries. You can connect by wifi to your phone so you can monitor what the camera is filming. This is a very useful feature and works well for me. I have also used my previous crosstour camera attached to guitars for filming music videos, the quality is great for this. People don't believe it when they see the videos and I tell them how much the camera cost ! The ultra wide angle gives it almost a fish eye look when used very close up. Controls are simple enough to use. The video and pics on here are the very first ones that I did with the camera on receiving it. There is an external mic included in the kit which I have not used as yet but it will be useful on videos where I won't be overdubbing the sound.All in all this is a great little camera with a box full of accessories to cover most eventualities. There are videos out there showing the best ways of using these if like me you are not sure.It's a thumbs up from me !!!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I am a big fan of Crosstour products and an avid user of another Crosstour action camera and also a Crosstour dash cam. I bought the CT8500 primarily for my girlfriend to use and selected the CT8500 as it has a car dash cam setting which was an important factor. As with previous Crosstour products I have purchased, the CT8500 was very well packaged with protective film over the lens and LCD screen as well as the waterproof case and optional dust cover. The camera is supplied with a dual battery charger and two batteries plus a large amount of accessories (see photos). The build quality is excellent and the instructions are clear and easy to understand. Image quality is superb, especially when connected to a TV using the HDMI connector on the side of the camera. The external microphone is something my previous action cameras have not had and makes a big difference to the sound quality. The dash cam mode is very easy to set up and the 170 degree wide angle lens provides top quality video, covering all lanes on the motorway. The EIS anti shake/image stabilisation is great, particularly when I attached the camera to my girlfriends dachshund dog, Olive, and captured some dog’s eye view video in the park. I also fixed the CT8500 to a remote-controlled car (see the video, which is short and only 640x480 so it was small enough to be able to upload it to Amazon). I highly recommend this camera, especially for people who want a dash cam and an action camera but do not necessarily want to buy both.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I bought this as an upgrade to my old gopro as I wanted something that could shoot 4k footage. I had a gopro3+, so it didnt have a screen on the back. The crosstour camera has a screen, which makes it easier to change settings and line up with what you are trying to film.The picture quality is great, the stills are crisp and high quality, and the video footage is so good that I can extract single frames that are as good as the stills.The camera comes with loads accessories and fittings that are compatible with my gopro accessories. There is also a waterproof housing which I leave attached at all times. Also included is a little external mic which is super useful as a lot of these action cameras can be lacking in the audio department. There are also 2 batteries included in the deal.All of these features for a fraction of the price of the gopro and the quality is easily as good. I would totally recommend it and I am looking forward to taking it out on my mountainbike this week (yes, there is a handlebar fitting included in the bundle).
