I bought these for hand embroidery which I just started. These metallic threads feel like plastic, I can't remember if they were supposed to be combined with any other fabric. That being said, they are what I expected in color and shine. You have to be careful when cutting because they do want to curl if you stretch it at all. I doubled the thread in my needle and I'm very happy with the result. I am using this thread to embroider highlights onto fabric designs. I actually think there is more thread on the spools than I expected. These threads are very expensive if bought separately. This was a great price for a lot of variety for embroidery. I will definitely buy again if I run out. Just wanted to add that I've been working with this thread for a few days now and it does a great job for embroidery. I'm convinced that it is spun with some sort of nylon because it seems very strong for such fine thread.

I bought it to mix with DMC cotton just to give metallic and it fit the bill.Beautiful colors and metallic accent.

I was pleased with the colors - vibrant and bold. However, this thread seemed to tangle more quickly than some other brands I’ve used. And fray at the ends also. But that’s also a common metallic thread problem I think.

I really like this. The colors are beautiful with a nice bright sheen to them. It is very easy to work with. I am doing hand embroidery and although the tread is very thin, it seems to be quite strong. I have not had any issues with it as of yet. I would recommend this product and will be purchasing it again.

I am using it for hand embroidery/hand cross stitch with other non metallic threads so it will show up super bright as I use it and after I have completed the projects. Wonderful sparkly quality and so versatile for machine or hand stitched decorative items.So far I am impressed by quality.

First time using metallic thread and it will take a couple of times before I am satisfied with my techniques. I did have a couple of breakage issues but that could have been my lack of knowledge of how this thread works. From what I have learned of others it takes some practice. I have purchased Smithread several times in the past and will continue to do so as their thread is awesome.

The metallic thread is more of a liked idea than good through fruition. I have tried this thread on my brother embroidery machine on several different fabric types and it always breaks and frays. Maybe this is better used for hand sewing. I wouldn’t recommend this for consistent machine use.

Very happy with this metallic thread performance on my Solaris. No shredding or breakage using a 90/14 needle at 400 speed.

Product was exactly what I was looking for and for a very reasonable price.

Excellent variety of colours. Using the thread for embroidery on paper. It gets the job done, but frays & breaks by the needle. After switching back to a metallic thread I've used for years, I realized that this product feels brittle in comparison.
