This is a MUST HAVE item for your Whynter ARC portable a/c! I was amazed during routine cleaning of the unit's filters to see how many tiny gnats were stuck in there!!! The intake and exhaust hoses are on the INSIDE of the window's screen which these gnats were able to penetrate. The few weeks of humid, rainy weather were responsible for these tiny invaders. I routinely clean all filters on a weekly basis to be sure to have good air flow and help extend the life of the a/c unit. Although it was a bit tricky to remove this pre-filter the first few times, it gets easier each time and well worth the effort. It's durable and simple to clean. Small investment to protect your a/c!

At first I thought it would be difficult to remove, but it is not. I took it off and rinsed it with no problems.It won't catch small particles, but keeps bugs out. I am told that the air going through it never gets inside the house anyway.

I bought two filters because we occasionally get all sorts of larger debris such as leaves, some insects and etc which could potentially damage our ac unit over time. Works great on the ac unit directly or on the window trays. They are a perfect size for our Whytner 14MX system. My only complaint is that these filters cannot filter everything out; therefore, you may need to buy a cuttable air filter to make them more efficient to actually clean the air being brought inside your home. Otherwise good for seasonal use and put them on the ac unit when it's time to store it away!

These filters should be supplied with the Whynter A/C units to begin with. It's ridiculous that you have to buy these as an add on! I wash mine out every couple of weeks. You'd be surprised at how many of the small bugs it filters out.

Pros: Works well in terms of pre-filtering and keeping bugs out. You may be surprised how much it catches. Easy to install and remove for cleaning. Easy to clean-- just run it under the water tap, and let air dry.Cons: Doesn't fit very tightly, can come lose easily if you're not careful when pulling on hose during movement of the AC unit. Adds more small gaps to the hose setup, due to duplicating those that already exist in the AC hose fitting's design. Is too expensive for what it is.I'm buying a second one for my exhaust hose. I just wish they fit better and were cheaper or had been INCLUDED WITH THE AC UNIT!

I waited on buying this after one cooling season. I finally broke down and got it and boy am I glad I did! This year has been terrible for pollen and bugs. It keeps everything out. Which helps my ac run better and cleaner. It’s easy to clean and dries quickly. I wished I had bought it to start but, better late than never!
