Excellent quality Tools
I love the quality and craftsmanship of this Wera ratchet set. I have an old, hand-me-down 1/2" drive Craftsman SAE set that my father gave me years ago when he first taught me how to use a ratchet and socket set. He felt that a girl should be capable of knowing how to use tools and not have to depend on someone else - you could say that he was a bit ahead of his time in his thinking. Thanks Dad!!!I had been wanting a good metric 1/2" drive set for a long time despite the fact that I rarely needed this size of metric sockets, or so I thought. However, my father taught me that good tools and knowing how to use them is an investment that continues to provide returns and so I have had my eye on this particular set for a while. I know... they aren't cheap, but I snatched up this set when I saw the price momentarily drop 28%. Despite my patience and good fortune, the Amzon price is very competitive. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better price for this set.I will admit, it's a bit large and heavy for a small lady like me, but I love them. My first use of them was to put together a Rogue Monster rack. Crazy, right? That thing didn't weigh a ton, but it was heavy and putting up that rack was quite an undertaking for a little person like me, but with my Wera 1/2" drive metric ratchet set I and a fair amount of determination I did it. I couldn't have done it without my Wera tools. I am just that sort of girl :-).My next project was to install a tow hitch to my little Honda. Again, the ratchet set was awesome to use and worked great. This was a much easier project that the Rogue Monster rack by-the-way ;-).If you're a dad, one of the best things you can do is teach your children how to use tools, especially your daughters as it's doubtful anyone else will. Lace, steel and iron is a great combination in my opinion. Get your daughter/s a set of tools including a good ratchet set that will last a lifetime. They may not get it at first, but as they grow and mature they will realize what a great gift you gave them. Trust me, I sure didn't get it at first, but I am so glad that my dad instilled this quality and capability in me. It doesn't have to be this particular set, but why not. If you think this set is a bit too much for your girl, then consider a 3/8" drive set - or maybe both :-).Beyond the quality and craftsmanship of this set, its operation is flawless. I found myself in a couple of awkward scenarios in the two projects I've mentioned, but thanks to the included sliding T-handle in combination to the ratchet itself I was able to work things out. I have seen some pretty amusing reviews on the operational differences of the Wera ratchet sets and while I am not a professional mechanic or an expert by any means, I am not sure who taught them how to use tools, but some of the things they complained about are the mark of a good tool in my opinion. Hey, what do I know about tools - I'm just a female :-).THE SET INCLUDES:1/2" Drive Zyklop Ratchet840/2 Z Hex Bit: 5.0 x 30mm840/2 Z Hex Bit: 6.0 x 30mm840/2 Z Hex Bit: 8.0 x 30mm840/2 Z Hex Bit: 10.0 x 30mm851/2 Z PH Phillips Bit: #3 x 32mm855/2 Z PZ Pozidriv Bit: #3 x 32mm867/2 Z TORX Bit: T20 x 35mm867/2 Z TORX Bit: T25 x 35mm867/2 Z TORX Bit: T30 x 35mm867/2 Z TORX Bit: T40 x 35mm867/2 Z TORX Bit: T45 x 35mm867/2 Z TORX Bit: T50 x 35mm867/2 Z TORX Bit: T55 x 35mm1/2" Drive Bitholding Adaptor to 5/16" hex1/2" Drive Zyklop Sliding T-handle: 250mm1/2" Socket: 10.0mm1/2" Socket: 11.0mm1/2" Socket: 12.0mm1/2" Socket: 13.0mm1/2" Socket: 14.0mm1/2" Socket: 15.0mm1/2" Socket: 16.0mm1/2" Socket: 17.0mm1/2" Socket: 18.0mm1/2" Socket: 19.0mm1/2" Socket: 20.0mm1/2" Socket: 21.0mm1/2" Socket: 22.0mm1/2" Socket: 24.0mm1/2" Socket: 27.0mm1/2" Socket: 30.0mm1/2" Socket: 32.0mm1/2" Drive Wobble Extension: 52.0mm1/2" Drive Universal Joint1/2" Drive Extension: 125mm (5")1/2" Drive Extension: 250mm (10")Labeled Metal Case

Refined and redefines socket set
This is a very refined socket set. The fit and finish are much higher than Craftsman, truck brands, etc. This set makes other socket sets look and feel like chromed caveman clubs. Of course, you don't need this high a quality tool to do the job, but it just feels good to use such a finely crafted tool. As much as I'd prefer to buy American, I wish we made stuff like this. The set consists 13 sockets (4 - 14mm, pn 8790 HMA), 22 bits (8 security torx, 3 phillips, 3 pozidrive, 5 hex, 3 slotted, pn 675201), one 15cm long socket wrench (pn 05003500002), 6 accessories. The accessories are: locking non-magnetic bit holder (pn 8784), socket U-joint (pn 8495), 11 cm long socket T-handle with sliding center (pn 8789), 15 cm long locking socket extension (pn 8796 LA), 75 mm long locking socket extension (pn 8796 SA), 55 mm long non-locking socket wobble extension. The metal on the tools has a dull chrome finish. Each item is labeled with it's part number and size. The lettering is easy to read black color, looks like it's printed on the part, but I could not feel it or scratch it off.All come in black metal case with piano hinge. The exterior of the case is padded with heavy green rubber to reduce slipping and sliding and enable stacking of cases. The case has two rubber hole-and-button locks. The interior is dual-padded, black foam on top and green foam underneath. The green foam makes it easy to see which parts are out of the case. On the interior top half of the case is a legend with part numbers and location. The foam is dense closed cell, it feels like it will last. The whole set and case weighs 1.3 kg.On the wrench, you switch tightening direction with the green disk on the socket head. This is not as easy to use as the toggles found on other wrenches. If your hands were greasy, you could have a hard time using it. The socket head center button unlocks the socket. It has to be pressed to install a socket. A green slide switch on socket arm allows the socket head to rotate 180 degrees with lock points at 0, 15, 90, 165, and 180 degrees. The socket "click" distance is a very small 5 degrees, this is 2-3 times better than most wrenches (smaller is better). It sounds like a watch when moving. The socket lock on the socket extensions are a tiny push button at the socket end of the extension. The lock works well but can be hard to press if you can't use your fingernail.

Comprehensive and convenient 1/4" ratchet/socket combo
Elegant and fairly comprehensive set. I use it regularly and like most Wera products, this is excellent quality and engineering. Unfortunately for me, upon discovering Wera tools has made me want to upgrade more of my tools.

High quality, but those spinny black shrouds...
This metric ratchet set is well worth the price. It has the full range of sockets and bits for 1/4" drive, and has extensions and other more exotic adapters. You'll quickly learn to use the green dial to change the ratcheting direction and the green lever to either angle the head or release the socket. My only complaint is about the black shrouds on the extensions, bit holder, and ratchet itself. When working with loose bolts, I often put a finger on the ratcheting shaft to prevent it from undoing my work when I backswing in the inactive direction (ie: turn clockwise to prepare for another counter-clockwise turn). I always end up touching the black shrouds which spin freely, not preventing the shaft from moving. I don't need them for their intended purpose, which is to help steady the shaft when turning, because without them I'd simply relax my grip when I wanted the shaft to turn and tighten when I didn't. They appear to be removable, but after two years of use, I'm starting to use them as intended. This level of nit picking clearly reveals how much I use and appreciate this ratchet set. I've also purchased more bits (larger Torx) and long bit holding extensions to extend its utility. I strongly recommend this set.
