Clean, fine wheat berries from Eastern Washington...
First off, I was amazed at how quickly this item was delivered. I live in Hawaii and expected the usual shipping delays we learn to live with but much to my surprise, it arrived with the rest of the stuff I ordered that day.I'm pleased with the quality of the wheat berries. I suppose I should try sprouting some just to see how fertile they are but I don't care much about sprouts. I do know it makes excellent flour though. I put a couple of pounds in my Lee home flour mill and let her whine.I used the hard red wheat berries exclusively for my first batch of bread and I loved it. If you don't know the pleasure of fresh baked bread made from just milled flour you don't know what bread is all about. I don't add white flour to my bread trying to get a lighter loaf. I get a nice loaf with this wheat going through my Lee mill. What's interesting about PalouseBrand is the QR Code affixed to the bag that takes you to the location on Google maps where the wheat was harvested. Nice touch. I happened to have gone to school at Washington State University and probably drove past that field many times over the years. Brings back some fond memories.

Clean and well packaged
Exactly what was hoped for - well packaged and clean wheat berries. The bag was sturdy and packaged in a way to prevent premature opening in the box. Have already used several pounds and is a great product!

Consistently good qualify
We have been buying these wheat berries for years, the quality is consistently good. I grind to use for baking a weekly recipe so it would be easy to see if there were any quality control problems from one bag to the next, but there never are. In the last two dozen bags I have found only one small stone, just amazing how clean each bag is.

My buds (aka chickens) love their wheatgrass from these berries!!!
We live in the Upper Midwest where the ground is covered with snow/ice for at least three months out of the year. We pasture graze/free range our flock year round, however when there is no ground to be found they prefer to stay in the run and/or the coop. We provide feed, scratch grains and mealworms at all times but I have found that supplementing with wheatgrass, during the times when they can't find fresh greens for themselves, helps in a few ways. One - it is a boredom buster. Two - they get nutrients that they are accustomed to.Three - it allows momma's who hatch winter chicks to get them started on scratch/pecking on natural materials right away. You can buy kits that have everything you need (drip tray/brace, jars, screen lids/rings) or you can piece a kit together yourself. You can also find the screen trays I use on Amazon or you can buy seed starting trays and simply punch a few drain holes and insert the holed tray into another tray to catch the runoff. See my pictures for these items.I get 4 trays of wheatgrass for only 15 CENTS each. This is for the berries only. The main supplies are additional but they are also a one time expense. Well worth it to give my buds healthy nutrition when they can't find it for themselves.
