TruColor 6-Color Vegetable Food Coloring Powder Set - Natural Gel Paste Powder

When I first dissolved the powders into water, I was worried that the strong-smelling red coloring would make my frosting taste bad, but that was not the case. I am thrilled to have a natural, allergy-friendly food coloring option that is made in the USA. It's important to me that our foods and other goods don't have to travel so far to get to us (less pollution), or if something has to come from another country, then it comes from a place that protects its people's health and personal freedom.

Miss labeled colors. It was a blue cat but the color inside was red. The green actually looked more gray, and none of the colors were intense enough to be anything more than pale pastel. The green taste like grass and could not be used in anything edible. A waste of money!

The media could not be loaded. Added color to item, but there is only 40% full product in tiny container and adds very distinct veg smell and flavor. Not worth the price. I have tried a few brands looking for what works. This one isn’t it.This product is not refundable.

I loved the vibrancy that these dyes brought to my homemade buttercream but it gave an odd texture. They are powdery colors so it gave the icing a grainy texture and I ended up not using it. Maybe if you used a high powered mixer or colored the wet ingredients before adding the dry it wouldn’t come out so grainy.

This box and directions for use clearly states that these are for decorating easter eggs. Despite this I tried it in my buttercream (since the description here says you can) and it is very clear these are for easter eggs only. The pink and purple are not pink and purple...unless you dilute them 1tsp powder to 1/2 C water like it says in the directions included for dying eggs. They also have a strong odor which the colors meant for baking do not have. I'm extremely disappointed.

Overall a good find, however the pigment of colors was off. I used as a dye for royal icing, the powder had to be diluted first then added to icing. The yellow came orange and the blue was purple. So you have to be flexible with colors.
