I use this for the smoker
I cover my smoker with this for 2 reasons . In the very off chance a grease fire or something breaks out this will buy time to deal with it . I also use this to cover in the winter to safely hold in heat . The down side is I notice this blanket sheds a little more than other welding /fire blankets I’ve used .

It says welding blanket However I used it to protect my floors and I did a slight welding job on an exhaust I look down and blanket is on fire melted a hole and damaged my floor.Thought I ordered the wrong product second guessing myself, but it says welding blanket on product description. FYI same company is selling fireproof blankets in case of need of person fire.Sending those back too, MADE IN CHINA

A fire blanket: maybe. Welding blanket: no
It's a seemingly heavy weight fiberglass blanket that seems like it would be perfect for stopping welding sparks. comes with a However, it's designed as an emergency Fire blanket. I got it to protect the interior of my truck while tack welding a shifter together, all in all it was just tack welds and fairly quick. The low point of the blanket had been completely destroyed by the collecting weld spatter and disintegrated immediately. Sheds fiberglass like crazy, too. Would probably work great for smothering flames but is ill suited for stopping weld spatter. If you need a good welding blanket for multiple uses, this one isn't it.

Painful Fiberglass Splinters!
Just pulling the folded blanket out of the bag without gloves on gave me tiny, painful fiberglass splinters all over both hands. I would never use this blanket for any purpose because of how much fiberglass it sheds.
