OEM ink and toner may cost a little more but they are worth the extra money as they always work and not cause problems.

took me a while to figure out that this is the one to buy, better late than never. tried a couple of generic sets because the whole set was less than just one oem cartridge. generic results were acceptable but both times one or several of the cartridges would start to leak making a mess inside the printer drawer and then printouts had splotchy remenants of the spilled colors. OK, accepted that the oem was going to give the superior and reliable results and coming from an inkjet it was still overall less expensive and better quality, so I paid up and got the regular size 054 for about $75. But then the light bulb illuminated in my head and I realized that the 054H was roughly $20 more but had twice the page prints...duh for that extra $20 upfront I would save $55 compared to buying another $75 054. Not ever going back to generics after doing a thorough cleaning of my printer.

Can't go wrong with a Canon brand cartridge for a Canon printer. Unfortunately, it is expensive.

This is the third time in a year of purchasing Canon Original Toner that the box was taped shut upon arrival. Opening the box it is found that the cartridge is a used cartridge placed back in the internal plastic shipping container. It has happened twice when purchasing a complete Cartridge Set and once when purchasing a single color. Check your product immediately upon arrival.

The original cartridge is worth the extra cost. We tried two off brand cartridges and each of them ended up with ink streaks on the edges of the printed documents. We had to change them and toss them without getting our full moneys worth of use. The original replacement cartridges have not leaked or streaked. The colors are consistent. The documents are prestine.

There is no substitute for the right product. I purchased no name brand ink cartridges which worked long enough to pass the warranty/return process but then started to bleed into each print. The genuine Cannon product 054H cartridge fixed this problem immediately

Update: The toner is still fine. My printer computer erroneously indicated that I was out of toner after I barely used it, but months later, the toner is still 💯 fine. Therefore, I am revising my review. Great product!New Update June 2025: This cartridge lasted a few years. I don't print tons, but I have moderate use.
