Perfect Find for Hikers
Super easy to use, very tasty, filling. Nutritious while hiking and car camping. Good value for the money. The best mountain horse flavor too.

Excellent Choice!
I finally got around to trying this yesterday and although it needed A LOT of (unhealthy) salt, it was really good! It was well seasoned aside from the salt and had a very pleasant aroma because of it. It did not have a muted flavor at all as others tend to be too salty or too bland. This was a happy medium. I’ll be buying more of these for sure! It obviously isn’t meant to satiate you but will make you satisfied for a bit. If you happen to bring along some cornbread to the campground or make them there, that’ll do ya!

A touch too sweet. Otherwise perfect.
Product packaging arrived in perfect condition. Bought at the start of 2025, the product has an expiration of 2054. I made the package per the instructions by adding boiling water, letting it sit for 5 mins, stir and then let sit another 4 minutes. The Chili Mac came out fairly chewy, or very al dente, which is what I love. The consistency is the best part. Flavor is pretty good and tasted fresh enough, but it was a touch too sweet. I like my savory food to be savory, not sweet. Maybe 1/4-1/2 teaspoon too much sugar.This was purchased for a go-bag. The price is a little high, but the shelf life is amazing, so in comparison to other go-bag food, the Chili Mac definitely has its place. Having to add water is a bit of a drawback on the go, especially because the instructions want hot water, but it only requires 1 1/2 cup and MRE heaters are pretty good. I did not try adding room temperature water and doubling the time it sits.

This is very light weight if you’re packing in. It’s very filling and it’s nice and warm on a cold evening in the mountains.

Great taste, the portion size is a little small though.

Filling yes!Taste not so great.Boil water add to pouch wait a few stir close and stir again can’t get any easier cooking wise.2 servings per a pouch not bad. Had some for lunch and dinner. Less is more when camping to it fitting well with my other things in my bag helped a lot.
