Rust-Oleum 4.75 Gallon 301994 Elastomeric Roof Coating, 710 White

This product was the most affordable of the roof coatings that I shopped. I therefore started by ordering just 5 gallons in order to give it a try before spending anymore time or money on it. I needed a rubberized product that I could paint over asphalt architectural shingles, in order to reduce the heat absorption of my Florida roof and at the same time increase the life expectancy of my shingles. I am happy to report that this product goes on smoothly with good body and coverage. It has the affect of reflecting most of the sun's energy right back where it came from while sealing all nokes and crannies in and around the shingles. It will also stop the continued erosion of the shingle coating. Before applying the white coating I would burn my hand when touching the shingles on a sunny day. After applying it, I can rest my hand on my roof on the sunniest day and it actually feels cool. This is after just one coat. I do think for appearance sake my roof would look more even and finished with a second thin coat. And I do like the bright white finish. I have been wanting to do this project for a long time but had been dreading it. I thought it would be much more difficult. What a relief to go into the stormy season with this upgrade. I couldn't give the product a 5 star rating for longevity or endurance because it was applied only a few months ago. I will update my review after some time and some storms have passed.... Additional information, now that some time has passed I can report that this product works wonderfully on the architectural shingles and on my metal roofs. It grabs the roof and becomes a part of it. I was right about needing a thin second coat. It makes a big difference in appearance and in weather proofing. But the second coat spreads so far that it goes on very quickly and easily and, thankfully affordably. A note of caution; don't make the first coat too thick or it takes a couple of days to completely dry and be rain safe. I tried putting a thick first coat on my metal roof to save time and it didn't completely dry a day later when we got a rain shower. Most of it did wash off. Remember, it is water based. However, having learned that lesson and applying thin coats and not leaving thick spots, this stuff is amazing once it is dry. It is as sturdy and rubbery as the sole of your tennis shoe. It says 6 hours to be rain proof but it is really more like 18 hours so check your weather forecast carefully before you start to apply it.

Worked great. Used this on the repaired roof of my 18x7 enclosed trailer. Photos are 2 coats, I'm sure would suffice, but I'll add a 3rd coat tomorrow. Rolls on nicely, cleans easily with water.I use this trailer as a studio. Before applying this product, the interior was 97 degrees (started at11:30am, I'm in SW Florida so the sun is intence). When i finished the first coat, i cleaned up, and went in the trailer, i was astonished to find it was 88 degrees. Previously the metal rod was so hot in direct sunlight you couldn't hold your hand on it. Now, the roof is literally cool to the touch.Packaged nicely, zero issues!

I wanted to use this product for my entire flat roof, but the description suggests it only does 35 sq ft. My flat roof is over 1000 sq ft. I did not like the idea of buying 20+ buckets, but figured I would get a couple and see how much it covers. What you see pictured is the entirety of one bucket, painted to add uniform whiteness as I could manage. Somewhere between 2 and 3 coats. I would estimate this was about 250 sq ft from one 5 gallon bucket.Goes on easy and looks fantastic. I took a meat thermometer up there to test. Those two pictures were taken one right after the other at the same time of day. One on a freshly painted portion and one on an untreated portion about 5 feet away, same sun exposure. One thick coat (I've since applied more) lowered the roof surface temperature by 25 degrees!! Around 130 to 105.I just did this so I have no idea about longevity or actual impact in house, but so far I'm very happy with it! I think it'll probably take 3 or 4 more buckets to do the entire flat roof.

Roof came out amazing! Perfect for a DIYer. No need to take your RV to a shop when you can simply roll it on yourself. Start the first coat thin and go thicker with every coat after. I poured out the last coat and just spread it out! See pics from start to finish!

Rolls on easy. Put 2 Coats on my 36 ft 5 wheel, Bought two 4.5 gal Pails. Great Price.

If you live in a hot climate and have a flat roof as part of your house, buy this paint! Anybody can paint, especially on top of your roof. It took about an hour and halve to put 2 coats of paint. I use to be able to feel the heat near the ceiling from hot weather . Now, my ceiling is nice and cool and the inside temperature is about 5 to 7 degrees cooler. My air conditioner is not working that hard any more saving me money every month.

We travel and live full time in our fifth wheel. Experiencing mild to extreme weather throughout the year. We are in the extreme cold (Montana) as well as extreme heat (south Florida).We’ve used a lot of different products and this brand stands out and has held up the best. It goes on smooth, it’s thick, color is great, adhesion is great! We have a 40 eagle Jayco bunkhouse. Did two coats and used about a quarter of the product. We’ve paid this same amount of money for just one gallon of what we thought was better quality and boy were we wrong. “Better product” was super thin. This stuff has some value and volume to it.Overall we are very pleased with this.Photo taken when job wasn’t complete and had just been painted.
