Use with Lithium Orotate for Severe Depression!
I think I finally found the perfect combo!Back story: My step daughter suffers from severe depression. There is mental illness on both sides and we’ve tried several natural remedies to help out but nothing seemed to really help pull her out of that deep dark hole she would find herself in. We tried St. John’s Wort & Lithium Orotate with the greatest success but like I said, nothing was able to keep her from sinking back into that sadness when times of pressure would hit or dealing with her issues (her biological mother has really caused her a lot of grief).She is super timid and takes everything personal, is easy to anger but won’t express it only suppresses it making the situation worse, won’t speak up, holidays and things that should make people happy make her visibly upset and sad for no apparent reason, let’s people walk all over her. I know some of these things seem like normal teenage things but with her it just wasn’t (Mother’s intuition). We eventually agreed to try medication because she was really having a hard time dealing with her issues surrounding her biological mom and begun hurting herself to try and deal. The medication only seemed to make her worse and she began getting herself into more trouble and suspended from school and facing probation. She is a great kid and completely unlike her. I had taken her off the medication and started her on lithium orotate again a few days prior to deciding to start 5-HTP. I’m always leery of a placebo effect so I didn’t tell her what it was I just added it to her multivitamins and watched. By the next day she was so happy to take her vitamins and asked about the new one and what it was for, I just said it was for brain health. I was so happy with what I was seeing that I took her off of the lithium and she was great for about 2-3 days before I saw the decline again and realized the 5-HTP and lithium must work together for her! Since being on the combination this girls smiles so much all the time. She gets sad but never to the point of darkness. I feel like the lithium builds up that serotonin and the 5-HTP helps her keep it up. I really hope this helps anyone else who is suffering or knows someone who is suffering from severe depression!

Depression/Anxiety & Mental Training
So after my surgery I have been a nervous, anxious wreck and then very depressed as of late. So bad that I was thinking of asking for medication from my doctor, which I simply refuse to take drugs. I did LOTS of reseach and found 5HTP. So, as a final resort I decided to try this AND L-Theanine. I take one of each in the morning and around dinner time/before bed. Take this on a empty stomach as per the directions. I am not sure if it is a placebo effect or what, but Ive been taking LTheanine for about 2 weeks before adding this 5HTP and so far I feel better. My mood has improved greatly. I dont feel so much like a dead empty zombie and I feel less anxious. I can think a bit clearer and not so many crazy worrying thoughts buzzing around my head keeping me up at night. I am not 100% but when I feel like I am about to slip into a panic or soul sucking hole (if you suffer anxiety/depression then you get it) I can snap out of it faster or push it away and avoid the downward spiral completely. A lot of it I find requires mental training to distract yourself from when youre about to sink and try to avoid thinking about past occurences that might trigger it. Put on music. Play with your dogs. Just do something to distract yourself and also think of something else that makes yiu happy. I think with the "mind over matter" way of thinking has helped along with adding these supplements- they work together. I will update as time goes on but I am so happy this seems to be helping me from falling.
