Buyers beware, this isn’t fit for purpose
Buyers beware, this item isn’t fit for purpose. The concept is proven with other brands, but the bolt integrity of this one is far from adequate. Spend the extra money and buy the Wolf Tooth version.I’m really pleased that the bolt failed whilst I was fitting it rather than out on the road and I was using a torque wrench. It’s made of aluminium and as soft as butter.

Allows use of larger cog on cassette
I changed my 32 teeth cog 8 speed rear cassette for a larger 40 tooth cog 8 speed cassette. My rear derailleur crashed into the larger cog so I installed this derailleur hanger extender which worked perfectly, allowing me to use my existing derailleur with the larger cog and cassette. Perfect for the task!

Useful but of kit
Extends a long cage deraileur to take a 51 t cog. Take care with b screw our you'll have poor shifting.

Dont buy for mtb.
If you are like me and got a bigger cassette and don't want to upgrade the derailleur. Dont buy this, biggest waste of £15 i have ever spent it snapped clean in half from going down a mildly rocky downhill trail and it left me stranded and I had to push my 20kg dh bike back home. Not fun. So don't recommend for mtb but for road biking I can't fault it.
